Hi. That plant you're not sure of is called 'teasel' in English (can be written like 'teazle' or otherwise too. Dipsacus in Latin, there are some different species, I don't know which one this is).
In Dutch it's 'kaardebol', which comes from the word for carding wool, probably it was used for a preparation of woven wool cloth, not for carding un-spun wool.
