Trudging through deep snow, I reached my mailbox and found
a monsanto seed catalogue! Taking aim with my stake and
shouting 'f**k Bayer!' (now renamed Monsanto), I rammed the stake
accidentally through my hand. Was this payback? I thought as
blood poured from the wound.  Just then my neighbor appeared
stealthily, ominously from his large shed equipped with a mean looking pitchfork
but backed away when my dog appeared, growling.  Just then
up jumped David Holmgren with a basket of heirloom seeds
So we shared the seeds between my neighbor and I.
Packing my hand in snow, arm in arm we trudged  
up to the house for a bandage, tea and cookies.

school. Imagine! Teenagers learning permaculture principles, and I was their
lunch lady.  At first I served food from a box
but then they started clamoring for stinging nettle soup and
I had to warn them that the nettles don't go
anywhere tender, unless they've been cooked first. Their first assignment
was making nettle pie for principal Wheaton, but prankster Johnny
chanted "wheaton, sweet'n" and dumped a bunch of sugar in



a nearby wasps nest. Well, you can imagine the sheer…
