Guess which side of the fence is mine!
I don't mind Gray! I've been here about 14 years now, and sometimes I forget what it was like before - an overgrazed sheep monoculture. That's what stops the trees regenerating on the hills here as well - those and the
deer. We're never that cold and the hills aren't high enough to be treeless really, although they are peat bogs at the top, so not great for trees either.
This bit is the windy side so the trees have struggled a bit to get established, but now they are providing
shelter and I am introducing more fruit bushes, letting the raspberries go wild. You can see the blackcurrant growing nicely - strangely it doesn't seem to mind the wind much.
My challenge at the moment to to get a little vegetable growing area started, but the soil is much more compacted than I thought and it's taking a bit of work!
