#1. I would love the external thermometer and rocket oven plans (to actually get the build done!)
#2 If those options aren’t available, I would go with the skiddable structures

I have supported all of Paul’s previous kickstarters so some of the higher support levels don’t apply to me since I have already purchased them. I Imagine several others are in the same position.

Any help in getting the projects actually made, safe, efficient and functional are always appreciated.

We're working on our "beautiful" rocket oven.  The oven is done, the "beautiful" is still in progress.  This is NOT a portable version - we've added a fair amount of bracing so that it stays super stable, even if the door sticks a little and you tug on it.  (We're working on solving that problem directly as well.)

Here's Tyler Morrison with the oven - it has a roof now!  I plan to cover the walls with mosaic.  He's done his part, I don't know when I will finish the mosaic.

We got this oven to 800 degrees Saturday evening.  The in-door thermometer had great correlation with a regular oven thermometer inside, on the top shelf, which was great to see.  We wondered if it might read too low, since it's near the bottom of the inner barrel, or it might read too high, since it's almost over where the heat riser hits the bottom of the inner barrel.  Maybe those things cancelled each other out?  We had to remove the regular oven thermometer at 550 degrees (the face is burnt from our first pizza party, where we definitely got past 600 degrees, the upper limit of the $5 oven thermometer).

If I had a pile of dry sticks, I could probably get it hotter.  I was walking 100 feet to a brush pile and trying to pick dry wood - sometimes I guessed wrong and there was lots of popping and hissing.

This is what I've got thus far for the front of the oven.  The first row of tiles was harvested from a big patterned bowl, the next two rows cut from bathroom tiles (yellow with glass cutting tools, white with tile nippers).

The $35,000 stretch goal has been funded!  $40,000 and $45,000 have already been defined.  So ...   if we make it to a whopping $50,000 ....

Add video to the DVD of an oven thermometer being mounted in the door so that the rocket oven temperature can be viewed without opening the door.

A wofati microdoc would be fantastic! Hearing you mention that some additional posts were added later has me really curious about the where and how much, plus how deep the soil is after settling. Getting an idea on that or anything else to assist those of us in serious planning stages would be awesome!

I made a slightly more formal way of voting - so please vote for all the ones you like.

People with PIE get two upvotes and one downvote.  You can also put pie on a post which shows as a super vote!

You can also add options to this thread.   Oh!  And I almost forgot "the control"

Jocelyn just now pulled saskatoon scones out of the rocket oven

saskatoon scones from the rocket oven
Staff note (Jocelyn Campbell) :

Thanks to C.E. for picking the saskatoons that went in to these! Saskatoon scones might just be my favorite flavor of scone now.

Staff note (Jocelyn Campbell) :

Thanks to Paul for firing up the rocket oven this morning! I was running a bit late for getting two kinds of scones done for our 7 a.m. breakfast for workshop folks, so I asked Paul for his help. It really did heat up more quickly than the electric oven, and I only fed it a few additional small scraps of wood (leftover from Paul's log work here) to maintain 400F. More about the scones here.
