I was watching it and saw it count down to zero.   And then I thought "well, we didn't make it to 80."   And then about ten seconds later, the numbers suddenly went over 80!

I refreshed it at 15 seconds and saw we were 60 short and couldn't stand the thought of coming so close and falling short, so I bumped mine up to cover the difference.

This is why I don't gamble, I get too emotionally invested. At least it's going to a worthwhile cause and we all get the benefits versus whatever I would have wasted it on instead.

That was an incredible finish. I'd like to think that all the conversations that have come out over the past couple of weeks on podcasts, Youtube Live and what not have helped to motivate folks past the "funded" line to really make something pop.

The book is going to be so cool.

Now that it has ended is there a way to change the shipping info. I want just the downloads and not the DVDs ($150 level). I could not find where to change it?

When I came to my screen, kickstarter did it's merry little refresh thing where you watch the numbers go up. They went up to $80,006, and showed zero minutes to go. When I clicked refresh, it went to $80,016. So, the automatic-spiffy-number-counting-up wasn't as accurate as an actual refresh.

I think that is a big part of a kickstarter is work.  Try, try, try ...

So, yes, Bill, I think trying all the things that you helped with helped!

As for the book:  I am looking forward to it being awesome.   Shawn and I are already loaded with ideas and lessons from this kickstarter.

Sean,

I'm not sure, but I think all the things are locked down.  BUT!  if you did pay for shipping (instead of the virgin islands trick) then we will have some lovely alternatives for you.

Surely there is a place on the internet that will print one bumper sticker that says anything you want?   And then you can make one that says "Converting from electric heat to a rocket mass heater reduces your carbon footprint as much as parking 7 cars"  ??

Sure, but I just can't seem to get the wording right, so I was hoping someone would have a better idea.  yours is def. better, but, if I saw that on a bumper sticker, i would think it was referring to electric heat, as in heating the home....   Wasn't your recent video (with the 7 cars bit) regarding carbon footprint specifically talking about the electric conventional oven/stove to bake/cook vs. electric to heat the home?

plus, i think that when a bumper sticker is made and ready to buy, more people are more likely to buy, and then there may be that many more public sightings of the term "rocket oven" or "rocket stove."

Now I am confused. I was billed 40 on my card. Perfect. But when I went into my account is said that I was only getting the 25 package. I can do without the physical DVD but would really like everything in gloryglory. Any ideas how this could be changed?

I bumped mine up to 40 but did it on a phone so it stayed at the 20$ reward but had the 40$ pledge. I hope I can get the solar dehydrator plans because I was going to build one for a friend soon and I thought why not kill two birds with one stone? I couldn't find the Virgin Islands thing on my phone during my break. Sorry.

It took me a while to look up your account (there is no "Scott Zechman" that supported the kickstarter.  I looked up your permies account, found your email, and then searched the kickstarter stuff for that).

I don't see stuff for making changes.

We are able to put everybody's name in because we do it in a big gob.  Spreadsheets and stuff.

We can sort out the stuff about the plans after-the-fact, that part is easy.

How do you feel about your name in credits?

I looked up your stuff.  I see the $40 is in there, but you selected the $20 reward.

Similar to the previous post:  we can process all the stuff en masse and when the dust settles, you can say "oy!  gimmie plans!" and we look it up get you all sorted.  Sound smooth enough?

Was looking forward to it but not essential. I am more interested in the fantastic information that I will gain. I am looking forward to it and if not having my name in the credits get you fantastic products out to all of us a little faster and easier on you, I am good with that. 😁

Thanks Paul

I hope I remember to add you, but I know that what seems to always happen is that we have to put it off as long as we can - to give people a chance to provide their clever names.   So it is the very last thing before the dvd goes to the printer.   And then at the last second, we grab the names, put them in the credits, render the final product and send it to the printer.  So I am worried that I will not do the "oh wait, remember there was one guy where things were a bit wonky -- let's look that up, find the person, ask them what name they want, wait for a response ...."   So, maybe if you post it right here, right now, the odds of it actually going in go up a pinch.

This is what will be in the dailyish today or tomorrow:

The kickstarter finished at $80,000.  Almost exactly.   In the last ten minutes there were some very exciting leaps.  The last 48 hours brought in about $30,000.  People from all over poured in and flooded the kickstarter with money.  There is a lot more to say, but I'm going to take a couple days off.  But for now I wish to express my gratitude to Steven Harris who said very lovely things to his very large audience thus providing a LOT of the fuel for this grand finale.

Steven has an excellent set of three videos on permies called "How to Make Your Own Emergency Home Battery Bank".  Part of it is about how to convert a pickup to a generator (including extra batteries in the toolbox).  Part of it is about having some batteries in your garage for backup power instead of a stinky generator.  I have watched all three videos and I think they are excellent.

As a form of thanks, what I have done is to put all of the PDC evening presentations into his digital market offering.  But they will be there just for now through the end of august.   So if you buy Steven's videos, you have more than a month to see all of these evening presentations:

Day 0 tour of wheaton labs with Paul Wheaton (5 hours and 6 minutes)
day 2 Fire Demonstrations with ernie and erica Wisner (1 hour and 40 minutes)
day 3 Ram Pumps with Tim Barker (52 minutes)
day 6 Intuitive Manifestation with Zach Weiss (1 hours 12 minutes)
Day 8 Helen's Projects with Helen Atthowe (1 hour 59 minutes)
Day 9 Farm and Animal Relationshops with Jacqueline Freeman (1 hour 58 minutes)
day 10 animals in the landscape with Paul Wheaton part 1 (2 hours 19 minutes)
day 11 animals in the landscape with Paul Wheaton part 2 (1 hour 48 minutes)
day 12 money and finance with Jocelyn Campbell (1 hour 44 minutes)

   https://permies.com/t/38548

Thanks Steven!  And thanks to the 1647 people that supported my kickstarter!

And something similar just went out as an update to the kickstarter.

The kickstarter is now closed but the pre-sell is up for the HD Streaming version of the DVD. You can purchase it now and have access when it is up likely sometime in September. Here is a link to it: Rocket Oven Documentary

It's worth noting that the pre-sale is a discount.

After release the price will go up to at least 25, possibly higher

Hi Paul;
Quick question... the evening presentations for the 2017 PDC, are all these included in the 177hrs PDC+ATC full package?
Or these presentations are a different "digital combo"??

It takes two weeks until kickstarter sorts out who actually paid or not and then sends the money our way.  So you have at least ten more days ....   :)
