Hi!  I’m stuck in a sign-on loop. I followed the link to Paul’s posting on April 14, 2024 and purchased entry (the paywall) to support .
However I can’t sign in or even verify (complete payment).  I get the following message:
(I’m using the same browser - my phone o/s)

“It appears that you have accessed this login link using a different browser than the one you used to buy "permies premium 219079 (Paul. Cancer.)".

To finalize your purchase, please close this page, and access this link on the same browser you used to make the initial transaction”

Keeps sending me on a sign-up loop.

There is some weirdness with the site today that might be causing the error.  Our resident superhero is working on it.

But it looks like you successfully posted and that requires logging in.  Can you see it now?

I didn't realize I purchased the cancer podcast when I was logged out. When I got an email with the link, I clicked it and suddenly I had a new account which the purchase is now associated with.  I'd like the purchase to be in this account if possible.  Sorry for the trouble.

Cool a puzzle.

Can you post from the other account so I can see the details?  I think there's a button around here I can use to fix this.  But I have to see both accounts to make it work.

OK,  this is the new account that was created.  I'd like the cancer podcast purchase on the Kevin David account.  Thanks.

I have access. Thanks.  I had sent a PM to Paul through the "contact the creator" link in the purchase email. I thought I'd mention that just in case someone wants to tell him the problem is solved.

Great, I'll make sure he's aware.

FYI, your "other" email address is now listed as an alternate email address in your unified permies account.  Should simplify any further activity.

Hi there,

I have a diferent kind of access problem to the private forum; I'd like to join, but I can't get past the paywall since it's set for US only (I'm in the EU).
Is there a way around - no, rather -> through this?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, all right, now I get it.
Don't want anyone to get in trouble with Agent Smith & his clones coming to collect VAT so... I'll give it up (hangs head, arms and rolling spine in an questionmark shape).
Thanks for clarifying!

Thanks for trying to help. That means a lot.

There is a way to buy this as a gift.   Perhaps you know someone in the US?

I just tried to purchase to get through to the other side of this - and it took me to a PayPal site.

But when I put in the information it just went right back to the same first screen.

Please check to see if it went through for me.

Thank you.

On my 3rd try it went through !!

Boy, the hoops that PayPal has you go through are irritating ; P

Is there any development in trying to buy Paul's cancer podcast if not in US?

Hi Gilly,

No new developments.

We do not have information about the VAT requirements in different countries around the world, as it varies a lot (which is the same reason we do not sell if VAT needs to be paid).

Reflecting further on this, I wonder if Paul's Patreon account could be a vehicle for this?  This would enable people outside of USA to hear initial  podcast .

I'm already a Patreon supporter for both podcasts and videos.

Ok , thank you Saana

Hello,

I've just learned about the cancer, and with all that Paul has done, and is making freely available, I would love to both be able to contribute financially, and share what I know will or might helps, as well as do it consciously: if he's doing A, I can't just tell him to do B for instance.

However, I live in France, and so it seems that the VAT mafia requires the payment of the VAT horse shit contribution.

Beside getting through the paywall from a gift, is there any other way to do so ? I don't mind paying 25 + the 20% or so of this included.

The tax thing is annoying.

One option is to have a friend from the usa buy it as a gift and send the code to you.

The real problem is needing to pay somebody to file all the paperwork.

Mike, I don't know what to do here.

For a lot of our digital goods, we have put them up on gumroad for the higher price.  I suppose we could put the podcast up on gumroad, but it doesn't exactly give access to the private forum.

What if we put the podcast up on gumroad for, say, $40.  And then if anybody actually paid that, then we would need to manually add them to the private forum?

Well, thanks a lot to you and your team for setting this up !

I will wait a few day until I get my pay (25$ was OK this month, 40$ won't fit). After that, I'll gladly use that link; maybe you'll want to add it to the original post if it is available for people in other countries. I can't be the only non-US guy who want to support you in some way and possibly contribute in other ways.

You are just sharing so much stuff, at some point I want to give something back or at least try. I can't fly over to Montana (if that's even where the permies HQ is located) to help physically in any way, so perhaps I'll be able to share interesting new stuff in that private forum. Hopefully, without coming on as the clueless guy who read a book that just happen to be exactly the opposite of what you are doing. I am quite good at cooking, working out and self-discipline o maybe that could be good subjects to exchange on.

In the meantime, thanks you for everything you do.

Sharing a bit of math on the $40.

25% VAT = $10

gumroad charges 10% = $4

processing fee is probably around 3% = $1.20

total = $15.20

$40 - $15.20 = $24.80

And a human being will need to manually process it.

My guess is that this is what all of europe is like when it comes to paying for stuff.

Okay, so I've been able to buy the podcast through the gumroad link, and it has been about 48h. It seems that I have not been added to the private forum. Can anyone do that please ? I've listened to the 3h podcast, I want to try to contribute some positive stuff.

I have also started eating kale again, and it seemed relevant to point that out.

Mike,

My impression is that beau is the guy you need, and at the moment, he is in the middle of a big move.  Maybe liv or andres can cover for beau - I'll check.

(i don't have access.  It would probably take me a few hours to do what beau can do in a minute)
