This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Nest.

In this Badge Bit, you will install a dehumidifier that will drain into a greywater drain or other drain.

Some articles and videos about installing partial and whole-house dehumidifiers:
How to Install a Basement Dehumidifier

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are you must install a dehumidifier that will drain into a greywater drain or other drain.

To document this BB, post pictures or a 2-minute video depicting the following:
  • Before: Area without dehumidifier, where the dehumidifier will be installed
  • Action 1: The materials you will be using
  • Action 2: You installing the dehumidifier and/or the drain line
  • After 1: Dehumidifier installed, with drain trap
  • After 2: The other end of the dehumidifier drain line

Quick little solution to the dehumidifier bucket filling up and requiring daily emptying for the price of a $4 section of hose!

Great way to use some extra damaged hose you have lying around as long as you have a functional female end too...

I installed a dehumidifier in my kids' bathroom.
Empty counter where it will go.

Piece of hose needing a fitting so it will attach to the dehumidifier

    Installing the drain line:

Installation is as simple as putting it in place. Hose goes right to the drain.

Got tired of emptying the basement dehumidifier every other day.

We'll eventually replace that drain with something better, but for now this will do.
