This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

In this badge bit, you will harvest, dry and store lemon balm

You need to dry enough to make a tea, infusion or decoction.

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must post:
- a picture of your fresh herbs being harvested
- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, or in a bag, etc)
- a picture of your herbs in a sealed and labelled container.
    - label shows where the herbs came from, the date and method of drying.

Lemon balm harvest from my garden. Dried in the hanging rack in the garage. Mostly saved for tea but a little added to a nerve tincture.

I love lemon balm! I love it, my dad loves it, the bees love it, it is great! It is great in my teas, I stick it in with most of them because that light citrus flavor is really nice! So, let's set some aside for the cold months.

Here's my submission for this BB. I harvested the lemon balm from my backyard hügelbed. Given that I drink lemon balm infusion nightly, this harvest was disappointingly small, but most of my lemon balm grows next to old railroad ties, so I dare not use it. This plant is in a different part of the garden.

Anyway, here are my pictures showing:
- the fresh herbs I'm about to harvest
- my herbs drying on a rack on the table. (Actually a rack for cooling stuff that's come out of the oven, but it works fine for this too.)
- my herbs now dry on the rack
-  two pictures of my herbs in a sealed and labelled container--one to show the amount of dried herbs, one turned so you can read the label.
   - label shows where the herbs came from, the date and method of drying.

Thanks!

Here is my dried lemon balm! I tried to plant this from seed last year without any luck. Then I read that it should be stratified, so this year we put the seeds in sand in a baggie for 2 weeks in the frig, then planted. Success! This variety has a pretty purple tinge on the back of some of the leaves. I see a lemon balm tea in my near future!
