Great idea, but I already have that video :-(

I wish there was an option to support at the $40 level without getting a physical DVD so I could get all those goodies but no shipping costs.

I don't know if Kickstarter allows the addition of a new option this late in the game.

And, let me say thanks for all you do Paul and all the great stuff / podcasts/ etc. :)

I can add more rewards, but to duplicate all of the rewards so that they have a non-shipping option seems like too much.

What do we have, that is a $20 to $30 value that you don't have?

Podcast gobs?

PDC evening presentations?

I'm right here in the states and I would happily take streaming/downloads of the PDC evening presentations over Physical DVDs

Currently, in the pie forum, there is a bunch of huge discounts, and there is one of the PDC evening presentations ... maybe i could add one more?

I want to increase my kickstarter donation but can't seem to figure out how. I followed the instructions on the website but do not have that option. Now I am worried that my donation did not go through. Can anyone help?

Yeah, that would be too much work to duplicate all the existing rewards.

Thanks for trying to find a solution, but I think I will just stick to my current contribution and if I really want the plans for the dehydrator, I'll see about that later. :-)

I went to another kickstarter that i am supporting, and there is a big, blue button at the top that says "manage your pledge" which takes me to a screen that offers a big blue button that says "change your pledge".  Do you get those big blue buttons?   Are you logged in?

I think I know what went wrong. When I originally donated, I did not have an account. It said that I could create it later. I now have an account but do not know how to tie the 2 together. I did find an email with a confirmation number. Any suggestions?

paul wheaton wrote:The pizza party is now a sure thing!

October 5th, 6th and 7th.   Starting at 6pm on Friday, October 6th.  Although people can show up earlier in the day and get settled in and visit and stuff.    And it is expected that everybody will have moved on before Sunday, the 7th, at 5pm.

I will send out invites to lots of people.   Rocket mass heater people.  Rocket oven people.   We'll see who all wants to come.

When the time comes, I will send something out via the kickstarter stuff.  Everybody who wants to come will send me an email.   I will then look up all those accounts and the top 20 kickstarter contributors will get an invite.    We did something like this during the world domination gardening kickstarter.   About 40 people said they wanted to come and 20 were invited.   One of those people got the invite because their pledge was $1 higher than the next highest pledge.   So they just added a dollar.   Some people added two dollars.

Once the 20 people are selected, those 20 people will be able to rent a bunk here if they want.  But early october is perfectly acceptable camping weather for here.  There might be snow, but it will definitely be above freezing during the day.

We will do a full tour of all of wheaton labs, including all of the rocket mass heaters.  And, of course, everybody will get a chance to use the rocket oven, the rocket griddles, the rocket cooktops, the rocket stoves, the rocket hot water ....   everything!

Any boots in the permaculture bootcamp will be able to attend also.

There's now a separate thread for the pizza party here.

First off, list the waiving of the $100 gapper fee.  But perhaps adding some of the recipes you taunted us all with from your stretch goal idea list.
Those together just might get some people to stretch to a higher commit level.  It's a thought anyway....

I got it! Not to sure what I did but I went back to my conformation email and there was a link to finalize. After selecting that and changing my password (it forced me to do that) it appeared. I was able to up my donation level!

So I'm at Kickstarter right now, trying to gather info.  I already am a backer at HD-DOWNLOAD level, and I'm in the USA.  I am considering upping my buy-in to the GLORYGLORY level in order to reap the deyhadrator plans, as so many others seem to be doing.  Kickstarter informs that my total cost would be $45.  Like the others, once I get the HD download I have no need of a DVD (I would just rip a DVD to my HDD anyway; it's more convenient).

Do I understand the options correctly: if I back at GLORYGLORY for $45, decline the physical DVD, collect all other rewards, then Paul would keep the DVD and keep my shipping fee but offer me a choice of pie OR the World Domination Gardening set?  Would those be my choices?  And in what format would WDG be available?

Thanks for clarifying.

And congrats on another spectacularly successful Kickstarter campaign!  I've backed you in the past for playing cards, Wood Stoves 2.0 DVDs, and PDC/ATC DVDs.  Always good to see the Empire expanding  : )

For me all of Pauls mentioned substitutes for the DVDs sound sweet. If you could make it happen, I would gladly spent sleepless nights over the decision between pie and WDG.

HI Paul;
I'm a backer! Sooo much value here, I went for the Full PDC-ATC deal! thks for this!

Once I made my pledge, I did not see the option for "delivery address" so I did not get where is it that I should have entered WDG  preference instead of receiving the physical DVD .
Was it in the ZIP code for the creditcard?
I did enter WDG there regarding creitcard details, hope was there, if not .. I suppose I'll be contacted regarding shipping of DVD then I'll reply I'd rather have the WDG correct?

Now I have almost all your stuff! .. only the non-free podcasts I'm missing, perhaps will be included in nxt KS :-)

Congrats! on another successful KS! with soooo much value here, success was guaranteed!
cheers

For $40 and up I added a destination for "Virgin Islands" that has $0 in shipping.  If you select that, then I will treat it as "I don't want stuff shipped to me."

For now:  does that work?  Please test and tell me.

More than 70000 now!
So, should I lower my pledge now to 40$ by moving to the Virgin Islands, or should I keep it at 65$ and get the pie or WDG deal? Or can i decide what i like best? Thank you for all the proposed solutions, but now I am confused.

EDIT: I read your mail and everything is clear now. I will leave it at 65 and wait for the candy. Feels a bit like christmas.

Success!  I am now a GLORYGLORY backer at $40 total, including $0 shipping to "Virgin Islands, US."  FYI, everyone, you can change your backer status thus by clicking the green "Manage your pledge" button at the top of the Kickstarter campaign page.  Thank you, Paul, for this simple and effective work-around.

I totally agree.  Unfortunately, the email distributed an hour ago still says "PIE or maybe some other digital content."  It remains unclear if "the WDG option" in lieu of shipping would be for streaming, for download, or if it would be available to ALL backers or just backers outside of the USA...?

People in europe wanted to upgrade from the $25 level (HD download) to the $40 level (GloryGlory).   The $40 level includes the physical dvd as well.  But they don't want the physical dvd.   And if you live in europe, it charges $25 extra for shipping.

As a workaround, we came up with the virgin islands thing.   Select "virgin islands" and the shipping is set to zero.   So you get all the goodies offered at the $40 level without the physical DVD.

If you still want pie or WDG, then leave it as is.   When the survey comes and asks for your address, just put in "WDG" or "PIE".   We will remind you when the survey comes.

Here are the options for US folks:

- pay $5 in shipping and get the physical dvd.  Don't get PIE.
- pay $5 in shipping and get PIE, but you don't get the physical DVD
- select "virgin islands" and pay $0 in shipping, don't get PIE and don't get physical DVD

Here are the options for non-US folks:

- pay $25 in shipping and get the physical dvd.  Don't get PIE, don't get WDG.
- pay $25 in shipping and get PIE, but you don't get the physical DVD and you don't get WDG.
- pay $25 in shipping and get WDG, but you don't get the physical DVD and you don't get PIE.
- select "virgin islands" and pay $0 in shipping, don't get PIE, don't get WDG and don't get physical DVD

WDG would be "World Domination Gardening" provided as hd streaming.

Make sure your credit card stuff is set up correctly, or you might miss out on the kickstarter offerings.

After the kickstarter is done, I activate what kickstarter calls a "survey".   In that, it asks for your shipping address and a few other particulars like "how do you want your name to appear on the video".  That is the time where you either put in your address or you put in "PIE".   If you are outside the us and slapped down $25 for shipping, you also have the option of putting "WDG".

So the moment for putting in your address comes a bit later.

It would be HD streaming and just for the people that paid $25 for shipping and are opting out of the physical dvd.

So I guess I was trying to think of "what is something worth more than $5 that would please the people that parted with $5?"  and then "what is something worth more than $25 that would please the people that parted with $25?"
