I have set up an exchange for free Paw Paw seeds from the Kentucky State University Paw Paw Program:

To receive 10-30 free seeds, email me at biodiverseed@gmail.com with your address.

I am recording germination data over 1-2 years. There are around 150 gardeners around the world participating so far.

    This sounds wonderful, as I have been wanting to grow some paw paws. I was wondering, though, if anyone other than yourself would know my information. Would it be recorded in the paw paw program, and in what way?

    Nope! I am just collecting germination data, which is anonymised through a survey. You can also opt in or out of doing the surveys.

    I don't know if this is still going on, but I've wanted to plant some paw paw trees. Do you recommend any specific guild at their base, i.e. clover, vetch and comfrey or something of that nature?

    Pawpaws like it moist. They are an understory tree and so can tolerate a bit of shade. The seeds will require moist stratification (chilling) before they will germinate. I have seen a range of 70 - 120 days recommended. If you plant them in the fall, the winter, in most places, will take care of that. Otherwise, a refrigerator works fine. Don't let the seeds dry out.

    I hate to bring this up, but sending seeds all over the world seems like a great way to spread fungus and other potential diseases. For good reasons, permits and quarantine periods are often associated with the transcontinental shipment of plants and seeds.

    The only disease that I know the pawpaw carries is being to awesome. Not to mention that the zebra swallowtail butterfly feeds on the pawpaw leaves.

    I've put my money into the gofundme.
    I have pawpaw but would like more genetic diversity.

    I am from Serbia and this year i have pawpaw fruits from my tree, it was also seedling tree and fruit size is about 150 g max this year.
    I have 3 pawpaw trees that will bloom next year and i will help again with hand pollination .
    I got seed from 3 different source so i will have different genetic plants.
    Pawpaw seeds have very good germination percentage , sometimes 100% sometimes a bit less than 100%.
    Snails love to eat leafs.

    This is how looks my tree and ripe fruits.

    Is the seed give away still available? Is shipping free? I don't have a way to buy seeds because my family is really broke and I don't have credit or debit. I used to eat these when I was younger, I really want one but they are hard to find where I am here (Alabama).

    I signed up for these and apparently the response was so good that they didn't have enough money to send them all out so they asked for donations to cover the cost, and that anyone who could afford it send a little extra to cover the cost of those who couldn't afford it.  

    Long story short, I got nothing.  Plus the requested donation was more than the cost of buying off ebay.
