This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Rocket.

This BB requires you to add ash from a rocket mass heater to a garden (light dusting). You are not required to build your own rocket mass heater, but access to one is required.

Some threads on wood ash:
  - Uses for Wood Ash
  - Urine and Wood Ash Restore Soil
  - Managing Acidic Soils

Benefits of Using Wood Ash

To get certified for this Badge Bit you must provide pics or video (<2 min) of the following:
  - ash coming out of rocket mass heater
  - labeled area before ash application
        - we want diversity for our garden, so some areas get ash and most don't.  Label where there are areas that do get ash to monitor the results.
  - area after ash has been applied

Here is my submission for the Rocket - Sand - Add Ash to a Garden Area BB.

I collected plenty of ash from cleaning out the RMH in the Fisher Price House and spread some in the garden.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
+ area behind Fisher Price House that will get ash
  - pic of the labeled area before ash
  - pic after ash

The hillside outside the back door of the Fisher Price House where I'm spreading ash.

Hey skip team! I spread out ash on my garden, in this specific row. Then I marked it on my garden plan, along with other fertilizers I used this winter, so I can begin to connect which types of manure/compost are favored my which plants.
