Boot Update
Today was all gathering poles and planting peas.
In the morning all of the boots went up the mountain and cut down dead/fire killed small diameter pines. We'll use these for building
fence and cutting out the cluttered growth will help other plant life regrow.
After lunch half of the boots went out and planted peas in the growing
berms, they'll provide some food and fix nitrogen in the soil for our later crops. I'm excited to see them sprout and eat some.
Yesterday I got some bow whittling in. I think I have a good plan to work around the knots in the cedar. I hope to keep the beauty of the
wood while not weakening the wood or comprising speed. I've marked out the center and middle and cut out the arrow shelf. I put the shelf on the side which would usually make it a left hand bow but I can shoot right handed by drawing the string with my thumb instead of my fingers. It is a technique I have wanted to try out and now I've got a reason.
It will be a beautiful bow if I'm up to the task.
