I hope your rocket stove cooking is delicious and fun! Thank you for sharing your pictures with us--it's really neat seeing how life in the tipi is!

BRK Post 4

Welcome and Happy Pi Day! Do you know about Pi day? The 14th of March is Einstein's Birthday and 3.14 is the first three digits of the number Pi. So celebrate by eating pie. We had Strawberry/Rhubarb, Huckleberry, Pecan, and Cherry. All of them were good and I left the room to prevent myself from having more.

Onto updates...
I had good results with cooking on the rocket mass heater last night. I made wild rice, steamed potatoes/yams/carrots/garlic, and oatmeal with apples. I had to start by splitting a bunch of wood which I had to borrow from Allerton Abbey (I owe Josiah some cut firewood). Stoked the heater until it was crackling nicely and got cooking. Pictures are at the bottom.

Tomorrow will be about bow stave work or rooting cuttings from my own trees from New Jersey. Whichever I get more done on today.

I only had a small bowl to measure so I did one bowl of rice and two of water. Made far too much.

Roasting was difficult the heat was either too little or too much, but I got some crisping on the yams

Simple oatmeal, no sugar, cinnamon, apples, and half water and half coconut milk. Had extra for breakfast.

Yeah I've only done one completely but I've gathered a whole bunch of wood to work with and haven't set aside time for working on them. Arrows are a whole nother skill set I'd like to jump into too.

Arrows are tricksy, but I have faith you can figure them out! I'm excited to see how your bows and staves come out. I'd eventually like to make my own bow, so once everyone around me knows how to do it I figure I'll learn too. haha

Congrats on your successful meals! I liked cooking out there on the stovetop. Definitely needed pot holders though.

Go ahead, make my day. And make it with this tiny ad.
