Since I first purchased PIE on Permies.com, I had these two features chosen and functioning:

Show, in a thread, how far you have viewed in the past
Navigate to the last post you have viewed

but for the past couple of days they don't seem to be functioning for me. When I click on a thread, it starts at the top, rather than at the "first unread" comment, and I can't see a green line showing how far I'd readup to previously.

Is it just me or are others seeing this?

I think it got turned off because it was part of something that was making permies really slow/causing 504 errors. Hopefully we can get it up and running again without it trying to crash the site.

We made an update to the forum software. All of these features are back available for people with pie!

Please report if you notice anything around this stuff working differently or in odd ways.

First off, I see that the 'folders' off to the left are yellow if there are new (to me) posts again.  For awhile it was just the top dozen or so in 'recent topics' that showed yellow.

Now when I click on the topic it takes me to the last post in the thread consistently and not to the last post I viewed.  I didn't see a green line on any of them EXCEPT when I went to a post straight from a 'like' and the green line was above MY post.
I'll keep playing...too hot to do much else

I'm on my tablet with IE...hadn't noticed if this function was back on earlier while I was on my PC and firefox.

Can you please log out from permies and log back in?  See if the above problems persist after that. ??

Logged out and back in and now I do see the green line in appropriate places.  I am still consistently sent to the last post in the thread and the green line is often a few posts back.  I'm trying to check topics where I know there have been several I haven't seen.

I got back on my PC with firefox.

It seems to be the same on this pc as on the tablet...every post with a yellow folder showing on the right, left! whether I've seen part of it, or never opened it ever, when clicked on takes me to the very last post in the thread.  I have to scroll back up to find the green line...unless it's a thread I've never opened before and then there is no green line but I still have landed on the last post in the thread.

A quick browse while waiting at the eye doctor's shows that on threads I have opened before I am taken to the first post I have not read yet with the green line in place...that seems to be working correctly.

For threads I have never opened I am still taken to the last post...not the opening post.

For wikis, it seems like I am taken to the last post whether I've ever had it open or not.

I might have a long wait here so will check out some more.

It’s still not working for me. I see green line when I scroll down in the right place, but invariably it takes me to the first post of the thread.

I’m on mobile, if that makes a difference...

Not sure if this is supposed to do this.  In the forums list, there's a tiny white square next to the last posters name.  This usually takes me to the last post in the thread, but today it appears (I haven't tested it extensively) to take me to the last read post.

I notice on some of the posts that I've read while the green line was disabled, the line isn't at the last post I read.
However, once I view the thread, the greenline seems to reset and work fine.

I'm guessing this is the system forgot to keep track of where I read during the no-green-line period.

That's right. We had to disable the whole read-status tracking thing for a while, during which period we couldn't keep records of what threads/post you have read.

That sounds strange! As it seems to be happening on 'some' threads, do you see a pattern on what threads it is happening on?

When I click on any thread it takes me to the last post, even if it's a new thread to me (I'm not clicking the last post little thingy).  After the first time, it takes me to the first post in the thread.

At least the first issue is solved ;)

Ok, it works flawlessly on desktop. I'm on a Mac and using Safari.

OOps, edited to say it doesn't work all the time. But it takes me to the latest post invariably. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you Devaka for making the green line work again!

I think I have spied a pattern.

Threads that I accessed yesterday will open to the last post in the thread.

Threads that I have read today, and have been posted to again, open to the correct place.

I notice this morning that when I click on the thread, sometimes it goes to the green line, sometimes to a post or even a few posts below, sometimes to the last post.  The green line is always there but not necessarily where I land when opening the thread.
I think it's landing on the green line maybe more than half of the time.

I'm on my pc, firefox, windows 10.

I think this was happening yesterday, maybe before, have just now had time to check out several threads.

I've been seeing some of this too. I think I have spied a pattern.

Threads that I have not yet accessed since the fix, and have been posted to again, open to the last post in the thread.

Threads that I accessed since the line has been fixed will open to the correct place.

Maybe?

So I'm trying to pay better attention...

Threads that I accessed since the line has been fixed will open to the correct place

I just opened one where it landed a few posts down (not the last post in the thread though) from the green line.  The post directly above the green line was dated june 15 so I must have seen since the fix?

I'm just not methodical enough...and have run out of test posts.

Joylynn, do you notice if it's longer threads where it's happening?  I thought I did but now not so sure...

And I just noticed that a 28 post thread that I know I've looked at in the past...pre-fix, took me to the FIRST post and half way down the page was the green line where I had left off reading....

The yellow icon on the outside of the thread is behaving differently than before.

If I open the thread through the list, it turns not-yellow, but when I open the thread via my email link, the icon still looks yellow when I go to the forum list.  When I log into permies from another device, the thing is sometimes yellow again.

Does that happen when you go to the forums list RIGHT after you make the post?
