The important part is: some shallow twits think that wearing overalls to a nice restaurant is inappropriate. And that just makes feeds my humor needs.

So just a simple question. What brand? I've been looking for longer lasting cloths and I can get a couple years out of a pair of Carhart's but I was curious if you know of someone making even more durable cloths?

When I was in school in the late seventies, overalls were popular for a short time. I never had any, probably because I had already endured bell bottom jeans and polyester which my mom picked off the dollar rack, years after those items went out of style. By the time overalls came along I was very wary of extreme departures from the norm. Imagine a kid wearing plastic "David Bowie" jeans when everyone else is in faded denim. Add to that an embarrasing religious affiliation and parents who fight at every public event. I couldn't afford the social risk.

Within a short time they were only worn by the girls and that was that.

They do look comfortable.

We believe in jungle chic here... in other words, you know those clothes donated to Salvation Army, etc.? What isn't sold is sent here in huge bundles and sold by the pound. You can get pants for a couple of dollars in the "American Clothes" stores. At first, I thought that meant American styles... nope, castoffs mainly, but good deals for sure.

What is hilarious is that the t-shirts usually have some saying, often very rude. But since people don't speak English, they don't know. But imagine being a North American and having the owner of a hardware story greet you wearing a t-shirt that says "Ask someone who gives a damn"

Key brand. With button fly.

two pairs will last me about two or three years.

I bought two more pairs a month ago and was told that these are the last that will be made.

my father in law loves big mac brand overalls but they cant be found anymore.

I found 2 of those Mac overalls at a yard sale for $3 each. My brother's Christmas present.

Edison said that luck comes dressed in overalls and is disguised as work.

I'd recommend Fire Hose coveralls from Duluth Trading.
These will outlast Carharts, but are not button fly.
For their Fire Hose work pants, they advertise "If you ever bust them, tear them or rip them, return them to us and we will replace them."
They also have a fleece lined version, but they are not on the site right now (probably sold out with the Christmas rush).

I have dealt with them several times, and never been disappointed.

Nadia and Geoff Lawton's daughter, Latifa, asked to have her picture taken and sent to "uncle paul in montana". Apparently, now that she looks so damn good, she is out helping people get work done at 6:30am. And you can see her mom's iphone in one pic - that's where i keep my phone contraption (well, in my pocket, not hers).

A lady here in town who always made fun of my hillbilly ways, and I.

I like key as well. I think they are still being made, but not a button fly.

I buy whatever i can used, but key is the best investment used.

Back in the Seventies, I had a cheap pair of overalls that were in fashion and I fancied myself being "with it" with peace signs, and "Love" and other stuff a girlfriend embroidered on the chest and legs. A college professor gave me a huge ration of sh*t. He'd grown up on a farm and didn't think overalls should be a fashion statement that all these students were flaunting. To him overalls were meant for hard work, not a clothing choice for spoiled, protesting college kids. Ah..the errors of our youth (fortunately, no pictures are extant).

Pointer Brand makes overalls in the USA for a decent price. I haven't tried them, but their chore coat is a well made, very utilitarian, and attractive jacket. I know Carhartts are ubiquitous, but I can't stomach buying new goods made under questionable working conditions when there are American made equivalents at a reasonable price. Check them out.

Love it! I used to wear bibtop overalls to lectures late 70's /early 80's ... but I was studying agriculture. I have an old photo of friends and I going to a barn dance wearing said overalls. Happy memories

I love Dickies painters overalls, white is cooler in the sun, and the stains looks like you are working your ass off.
I always burst the crotches out of pants ( leads to great jokes!) but the loos fit of overalls keeps this from happening.
When I was a construction electrician I would wear swim shorts underneath and drop my bibs to my ankles at lunch and break time.
Bibs don't bind at the waist so they feel cooler to me anyway. Commando is an option for some people, but not me...
Nowadays I am required to wear a uniform, but bibs are my favorite thing to wear during my own time.
