Simple rules
Your reply contains a song from any word mention in the last post
such as

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Now your reply must start with a song from any word lyrics

Blackbird, why you wearing that frown?
Don't you know Jesus loves you and me
and the preacher on T.V. you're putting down
Blackbird, how I love to hear your songs
I could spend all of my time in the shade
of the trees and listen all day long

We grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name

I never hear my record on the radio.
How about this new Mercedes Benz, that ought to get it on.
Well, thanks a lot man! I'll play it all day long.
Payola blues No matter where I go I never hear my record on the radio.
I've got the payola blues, payola blues I'm paying those payola blues
No matter where I go I never hear my record on the radio. -ny

It's a long way from L.A. to Denver
It's a long time to hang in the sky
It's a long way home to Starwood in Aspen
A sweet Rocky Mountain paradise
Oh, my sweet Rocky Mountain paradise

Please come to Denver with the snowfall
We'll move up into the mountains
So far we can't be found
And throw "I love you" echoes down the canyon
And then lie awake at night 'till they come back around
Please come to Denver, she said
"No, you come home to me"

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Close the curtains on 'em if they're actin' like they never heard us
See we do this for a purpose just to keep that fire burnin'.
And we don't need no water let that mother-mother-burn,
Timmy play your trumpet let the people go berserk.

The bass and the tweeters make the speakers go to war!
Ah, the mighty trumpet brings the freaks out to the floor!

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No, we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it

Well, Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
Baby you can bet
A love they couldn't deny
My words say split
But my words they lie
'Cause when we kiss
Ooooh, fire

Here comes ol' Rosie, she's lookin' mighty fine
Here comes hot Nancy, she's steppin' right on time
Here go the street lights, bringin' on the night
Here come the men, faces hidden from the light
All through the shadows, ahh they come and they go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

The boys of the NYPD choir
Still singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells are ringing out
For Christmas day

Heather's word was 'trees' from the previous post

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play
And mild and sweet their songs repeat
Of peace on earth good will to men

This isn't a song, it's a clarification/question

It's dramatically easier if any word from the new song just has to be in the old song.

Is the intent that the first word of the new song needs to be in the old song?  I suspect so...

Cool thread. I'll play. Using a word from the previous song ...

But I ain't askin' nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
If you don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone

two old soldiers met on that hades-bound road
they looked at each other, the enemy brother,
and they spoke in moral codes.
the first one said ‘before i explode,
i’ll find some peace in all this
even if it exists
just in the moment it takes to reload’

and then the second one lit up his last lucky strike
and he remembered the death march
and eichmann, and ike
then they both turned around
and without any sound
they descended on down
and they burnt that town to the ground.

Did they beat the drum slowly, did they sound the fifes lowly?
Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down?
Did the band play the last post and chorus?
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?

Well, I finally found what I've been lookin' for

I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine, yeah

(We're on a roll, Greg...)
