acronyms used here

Ive not been here long but im lost with all the acronyms used here. My line of work is nothing but acronyms (and I hate it) but Ive no clue what many are saying here. Is there a secrete decoder ring someplace? I will likely just type out the actual words (since my disdain for acronyms) when I post here but want to understand the secrete language of the group without needing a translator.

I read through the latest topic and I see one called  "SEPP to Boot: (BRK)

I dont understand any of that.

You are a SEPPer if you rent a structure to stay in for a while at Wheaton Labs. When I started here, I rented one of the tiny cabins for a month. That's what my thread title refers to.

BRK: "Biological Reverse Kickstarter"
As far as I know, this is a silly name that stuck. The idea is that anyone serving as a Boot at WL can have their own BRK thread. For every 100 posts they make that have some Weaton Labs-related media (like photos or video), they earn a little coin that's been pledged by other folks in the permies community.

Incidentally, should you skim through the first couple posts I made on my BRK thread, you'll learn more about my personal take on being a SEPPer.

I agree that wrestling with acronyms can sometimes be a hassle. But they can sometimes be fun, too. I think that second quality is what was aimed for when developing all these acronyms for permies.

What the heck is a boot? I only know them as what I wear on my feet.

I think having a big table with all our acronyms and weird words would be really helpful. I know I was really confused when I came here. Here's some things that might help:

Permaculture Jargon translator It links to this google doc, but it's like 9 years out of date, and Paul's invented a LOT of acronyms in the time since then (he loves them, as you've probably noticed.

What do all the titles mean (Gardener, garden master, master steward, etc)?. This isn't really acronyms, but helps explain other jargon

SEPPer vs Permaculture bootcamp Explains the difference between a Sepper (which is basically renting a structure and taking part in fun permaculture activities at Wheaton Labs when/if you want) and a "Boot" (someone who takes part in the Permaculture Bootcamp at Wheaton Labs. These people have free accommodations and food, and work their butts off doing cool permaculture stuff)

I just pinched my finger in a stool, and am typing one-handed while iceing the finger. But, I thinlk it'd be lovely if someone made a wiki thread where we can list jargon and acronyms and their translations. We could then keep updating it with more aconyms and jargon as we spot them!

Looks like an easy place to add more words and defintions to. Probably could turn first post into a wiki and make a shiny table there
