I have always suspected the weather wizards of hocus pocus...
They finally got caught on camera with their "weather model...)  in plain sight

Good one!
Can't figure out what the little house in the bottom left corner is used for though?

It's a weather house.

There's a piece of dried gut in there which shrinks or relaxes according to the humidity. Usually the woman comes outside if it's dry and the man comes out if it's going to rain.

Thanks Burra.
Amazing what a person can learn while sick at home.

Another weather-related issue: I would like to know if there exists a hamlet, village, town or city anywhere in the USA that doesn't claim to be the sole inventor/owner of the saying "if you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes."

Answer: there are many. They're the ones who say "wait 5 minutes" instead.

I'm in "wait 5 minutes or move 5 kilometers" country! The 5 km is often true as we have such frequent micro-climate situations.

Over the course of my life they have improved some, at least here in Portland/metro area.  They're still not perfect but they're better than they were when I was a little kid.

Me too - it's often completely different the "other side of the hill". Visitors are often impressed by our rainbows - quick changing sunshine and showers = rainbows.

I like windy.com for forecasts - it's not always the most accurate, but the colours are prettiest!

I have a brother in law who is an economist.  He told me there are only 2 jobs where if your right 50% of the time you are recognized as a genius.  Economist and weatherman.

In New Mexico we say "if you don't like the weather, cross the street"
