Please join me in welcoming Kate Downham, author of Natural Small Batch Cheesemaking!

Read the review of Natural Small Batch Cheesemaking here!

Kate Downham will be hanging out in the forums until this Friday answering questions and sharing her experiences with you all.

At the end of this week, we'll make a drawing for 4 lucky winners to win a copy of Natural Small Batch Cheesemaking. From now until Friday, all new posts in the Cheese forum are eligible to win.

To win, you must use a name that follows our naming policy and you must have your email set up to receive the Daily-ish email. Higher quality posts are weighed more highly than posts that just say, "Wow, that's really cool! I want to win!"

When the four winners are selected, they will be announced in this thread and their email address will be sent to the publisher, and the publisher will sort out the delivery details with the winners.

Please remember that we favour perennial discussion.  The threads you start will last beyond the event.  You don't need to use Kate Downham's name to get her attention. We like these threads to be accessible to everyone, and some people may not post their experiences if the thread is directed to the author alone.

Posts in this thread won't count as an entry to win a copy of the book, but please say "Hi!" to Kate Downham and make her feel welcome!

Hi Kate,
I am loving your book and I have plenty of questions as I use it to guide my first forays into cheesemaking.
I will go off and ask one on the cheesy forum.
Thanks so much

I have never tried to make cheese but love eating it. It would be great to have a book on small batch cheese making.  The book would be extra helpful if a chapter on tools needed and where to get or make them.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I haven't been on Permies as much as I would like to lately, so I appreciate the opportunity this week to slow down and talk about cheese with you all.

Thank you so much to everyone for making this giveaway possible.

A lot of work goes into creating these giveaways and Permies staff are so lovely for helping to make this happen, along with all the Permies community for making such excellent posts and asking great questions.

I have now contacted the winners via their Permies email addresses to get shipping addresses.

Welcome to you, Kate. I don't have the cows, ewes, goats, or anything that gives usable milk... but I just love cheese, and I love to learn.

I have the book, but I was too lazy to look after the gjetost recipe (mysost in my case), so I looked it online.
Google gave me this link:
https://practicalselfreliance.com/gjetost-recipe/

Who would have guessed! It is based on this same book by Kate Downham.
