Sooo... what exactly is a "Canadian Tuxedo"?
Blue jeans or jeans-skirt, with a jeans jacket - current BC trends require a plaid shirt.

Where did this expression come from?
If you can believe E.L.V. Denim, the expression was coined in 1951 when Bing Crosby was refused entry into a prestigious Vancouver Hotel because he was dressed in denim. Luckily for him, the bellhop recognized him and he was allowed in anyway.

However, Levi's grasped the PR opportunity and created a custom denim tuxedo jacket for Crosby, to be worn with their 501 jeans.

I *think* the pressure on mom has backed off enough that, since I'm the mom in question, I don't need to be adding tails to my jeans jacket, nor hauling out some fabric from my sewing chest to make a jeans skirt I can wear with pride. But I thought I'd look up the history of the expression just to see whose wonderful company I would be keeping. Yeah Bing!

So where and when were the most unlikely places you wore jeans with pride?

Are there any permies with time on their hands who'd want to sew Big Paul a Jeans Tuxedo  to go with his coveralls?

I could sew the jacket in this picture, but I wouldn't wear that dress...

I like the dress as long as sleeves were added.  The rest of the dress is beautiful!

The jacket is eating Justin alive. Looks like he borrowed it from Paul.

A number of years ago, we visited the Bing Crosby house on the campus of Gonzaga university in Spokane, WA.  I don't recall seeing any reference to this story there, but I wasn't looking either...and we're talking about my memory to boot.

I can't say I recall hearing the expression before...then again, I grew up in rural Saskatchewan, land of the bunnyhug.

All it takes is a person or two in the right place, and the whole continent will start calling them bunnyhugs!

I like the dress better than the suit, and not that I am volunteering to make one, but I might like the look of a tailored blazer over overalls, than the guy in the photo’s outfit.

I loved the stories on Canadian tuxedos and bunny hugs.
