Decade, that's the Neil Young double album with him posing from behind his guitar case right? Or am I just presuming its Neil because Judith mentioned it?

I've been listening to lots of y'alls suggestions. Finnish jam bands = Awesome. The Woody brings me back to one of my favorite artist off all time.

Phil Ochs - What are you fighting for

The men behind the Gun

^This is one of my favorite songs ever. Such amazing composition and delivery

yeah, NY...do you know what album that phil oches song is on?...he had a great voice and politics too!
...and you know that isn't Neil behind the guitar...I always thought so too but saw something once that said it was a female .
someday I will be able to go back through this thread for a music marathon!

Which song? The men behind the gun is on "I ain't marching anymore". I'm not sure about 'what are you fighting for' that was a live track and I don't think its on the same album with the live "the marines have landed on the shores of santo domingo" track.

And from one of the best song writers to well... not. But still what I'm jamming on right now

The Business - Mortgage Mentality

but more on that later...

I just posted this album under "concept albums..." But I got there via these lyrics which make it "music of the moment". And, yes, I seriously think in bad religion lyrics... its sick...

"Big Bang"

This isn't another new fashion, or a new wave plastic trend.
Everybody's searching for something but in the meantime let's all just pretend.
I've got this feeling and I don't know what it is.
This room is overcrowded, man, and I need air to breathe, yeah.
Big bang, big crunch, you know there's no free lunch.
Kneel down and pray, here comes your judgment day.
Big crunch, you know, it's gonna be quite a show.
What goes around always comes around, yeah.
A million hopeless faces dwell within protected walls,
All waiting for a moment in life when they can heed the clarion call.
And it's all so oppressive my mind feels like a sieve.
This city's overcrowded, man, and I need room to live.
Big bang, big crunch, you know there's no free lunch.
Kneel down and pray, here comes your judgment day.
Big crunch, you know, it's gonna be quite a show.
What goes around always comes around, yeah.
I think of the countless shadows that have all come and gone,
All suffering in the notion of better things to come.
If you share these beliefs you know I wish you well,
'cause there's no room left in heaven and there's sure no room in hell, yeah.
Big bang, big crunch, you know there's no free lunch.
Kneel down and pray, here comes your judgment day.
Big crunch, you know, it's gonna be quite a show.
What goes around always comes around.

Homegrown by Keith "Fathom" Cross

Lyrics:

I got that home grown, I don’t care about the dow jones,
the economy could crash tonight and your whole life savings wouldn’t save your life.

I’m a crop farmer, I got what you need / but I ain’t blowing smoke when I say I grow trees,
it’s funny this economy is based on greed / but people don’t farm who got mouths to feed,
Some folks save money, I save seeds / I don’t water my lawn or spray weeds,
the money I do spend on watering crops I give right back ‘cause I don’t shop for groceries,
I got breakfast lunch and dinner in the yard / so that recession ain’t hitting me as hard,
Plus I grows exponentially / What? The Wall Street Journal never mentioned me?

See I’m a city boy, all the way urban / but I ain’t going out like the Pharaoh’s servants / To eat they sold the land and cattle for cheap / then they gave their bodies up to the forty hour week / In the city where pity runs low / You can’t grow food in a loft an apartment or a condo / so now you work for the dollar and man / when all you needed was sun air water and land / they think they own the water and land but they confused / God is billing them for what they charge me to use / if they could sell air and sunlight they would / We’d suffocate and every day would be night up in the hood but it’s all good….

One seed and I get a tree or a whole vine / tens or even hundreds of fruit at one time / so while the dollar bill steadily losing its strength / I got enough food to feed ten families on my fence / enough melons to make farmers out of felons / Turn gangsters into gardeners / ’cause now they smart enough to keep the system from starving us / They ain’t dropout they know the math on which seeds and which stars is up / We goin back to the old ways except / We technologically and metaphysically adept / Yep like in the ancient times when we could speak / with animals ’cause they was kin and they wasn’t meat / Y’all wanna eat??

Buddy Miller with Levon Helm

One thing about Levon Helm and the Midnight Ramble . While this video was shot at the Ryman the concert series started in Levons' barn as a way to pay the mortgage on his farm . Became very successful . While most of us do not have the musical connections and history of a Levon Helm we can certainly consider hosting musical events as a sustainable income stream .

They gave me pumpkin ice cream. It was not pumpkin pie ice cream. Wiping my tongue on this tiny ad:
