For many years it has been "the daily-ish email".   And now we are trying to transition to something a bit richer:

daily-ish
weekly-ish
monthly-ish
missoula
PNW
plotskateers

So "daily-ish" no longer fits.

To come up with a really good name, I think we need to start with really terrible names.  Which inspire more terrible names, which inspires lame names, which inspires mediocre names ....   etc.   eventaully we have something that is poetic magic.

permies emails

email-ish

email stuff

email bits and bobs

love notes from permies

... other ideas?

Permieation - A daily micro-dose of permaculture into your life.

Like the way water or nutrients permeate into  the soil.  It might take a bit, but it'll sink in eventually.

How about the Permie Express? After all, it is usually a compilation of different people/s thoughts and ideas on all things permaculture, so it's sort of a hand-off from writer to writer ... get it?

You could do a weekly one with maybe 6 items, and call it the "Thursday 6"!

I like the idea of a less-than daily email, whether it's weekly or daily-ish.  The daily is, uhm, for me, kind of much.

Okay, now for my boring two cents - I think the name should be creative, but also indicative of how often users can expect to receive it, so we're not getting folks coming back saying, 'Well how the hell was I supposed to know I'd be getting emails everyday with the Permiepalooza?'

Given the frequency of this one, I think making it clear that it is pretty much daily is a good idea, to at least kind of avoid pissing people off

Annnnd ideas!

You say it will be richer. But will it stay daily(ish)? Or will it become 'less often but with more in it'?
Like others I suppose the name will make clear how often (daily, weekly, half-weekly) it comes, on what day if not daily (Thursday, Wednesday?) and what's in it (Permies news).
So I don't have a name yet

A permie nation would be pretty cool. Some day it'll just have to be that way I guess.

A few years ago I was thinking about a name for a podcast where I would just talk to other permie people like me.  The idea was that I would have conversations with people who were just starting out and wanted to share successes and failures as well as trade tips, ideas and advise.  Just us little guys having simple permie conversations that I would upload for others to hear/see.  Permieations was one of my first ideas for a name.  There wasn't any interest in a low level podcast like that and most of the people I asked about participating didn't think it would be worth their time. People who were interested in live conversation, didn't want it to be "public".   (I think permies are naturally quiet, gentle, private people.  Eventually I just let the idea go.  So now... Permieation(s) is up for grabs.  Thanks for all the thumbs up!  At least I can say it was a decent name.

We are all so busy, prefer Permie Express and Permie Link.  I like it as it, but if you must, make it sound brief, so I'll click on it.  As it is now, I get suckered into clicking on it and enjoy it.  So my 1 min becomes 15!

If we make it "Permie Links" that reminds me of sausage, which is almost as awesome as bacon.

I had several suggestions. I think my favorite is "Permie Seeds." It doesn't require a daily designation, so could be every day or miss a day or more.

Physical Seeds are something that we all deal with one way or another to grow food and shade.  Seeds are also used metaphorically to represent ideas that we all talk about on this site. Someone says that they do something a certain way or have had an idea about doing something and it "plants seeds" in our mind or imagination. These seeds are the reason that I keep coming here to get ideas for my own applications,

For years it was just me.

And then it was me and cassie.

Now it is mostly R and Destiny with lots of suggestions from the greater community.

So in the beginning it was "paul wheaton's daily-ish email" but now .... if we just want to describe it, it's "the permies.com community email".  Offered as daily, weekly or monthly flavors.  Hand made.

Maybe "hand made emails from the permies.com community"   ??

when i started it, the options were

---
Permaculture stuff
PNW stuff
Missoula stuff
I wanna help with Paul's devious plots on world domination
---

but now I think the options should be:

---
daily-ish
weekly-ish
monthly-ish
missoula stuff
I wanna help with Paul's devious plots on world domination
---

Sorry for taking so long to reply to this thread.  I had read everything here many times and I couldn't seem to come up with anything worthwhile to say.  Today I came to write that I think I am going to go with something really boring, and as I typed, the "hand made" thing came up.  I like it!

Going once! Going twice! Sold?? I'm not certain you are. The Daily-ish is still the Daily-ish, as of today. Maybe the Super Techno-ologists are in warped, jacked up, Jamba juice speed getting the epic new facelift ready. No? Need more suggestions? I have more. New viewers have more too, I'm sure. Feeling rushed? No need. Pace yourself, genius takes time. I ,for one, have always liked the Daily-ish, but a fresh new name is alright with me. Shimmy this up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes...
Whenever someone gets off task, or off subject, I always bring 'em back by sayin'...."Meanwhile, back at the Ranch..." Sounds like as good lead in as any for the hot threads here at Permies.

Example: "Meanwhile, back at the Ranch..." Are your toes froze? Lookin' for some ''Hot Stuff"? Check out the Rocket Mass Heater designs here....

Just sayin'. Hey, you know where to find me...peace out!
