The Sepp Holzer documentaries are fantastic! I've heard about Sepp Holzer for many years, but I had no idea all the things he had going on, like having frog ponds to feed the fish, and giant waterworks that power and water his whole farm! I wrote up a whole review here.. There was so much that I had to keep myself from writing a summary--the films are so full of great information!

I saw this question on facebook: If we reach the $80,000 stretch goal, how will the 6 winners of the PDC tickets be selected? Will all the $100 level people be asked if they want to go, and the winners randomly selected from those that say "yes"?

Nothing random.

We will ask everybody at $100 and up "Do you wanna ticket to our 2021 PDC?"  and out of all of those people we will select the 6 people that contributed the most to the kicktarter.  So this leads to a lot of pledges that are "$101" or "$107."

Just got back from spending the day in jury duty ; /  and  I am excited to say . . .

I upped my backing to 101.00 so I can participate in all of
the many goodies that I have been hoping for : D

Stretch goals # 4, 5, & 6 are most worthy to me.

Thank you, everyone who has pledged - to get the total up
to where I can get all I wanted!

Happiness : )

76,605.00 and counting . . .

Fun fact about this stretch goal: Both Josiah and Jen won tickets during past kickstarters...and both decided to stick around Wheaton Labs and both have been there over a year!

The kickstarter is funded, why keep pushing?

When we first arrived, getting water on the lab was our top priority.  I felt the water was just about ten feet under the surface, so we could dig a quick well with the excavator and we would be set.   The excavator can dig a sixteen foot deep hole in about 20 minutes.   We ended up digging about 20 holes this way.   We even dug some excavator shaped holes so we could dig even deeper holes:

Nothing.

We then built this and dug a hole 30 feet deep:

Nothing.

A guy said that if I gave him a HUGE check, he would buy a drill for drilling wells as deep at 400 feet and he would drill a dozen wells for me.  I paid.  He skipped town.

One of the ants got all tasted up and wanted to get paid to learn about digging wells by hand.  After a long talk, I agreed to pay a big pile of money for a functioning well that could produce at least 20 gallons a day.     It worked!

But, not very much water - 20 gallons a day ... maybe.  You could get a gallon or two at a time.   And I'm still concerned it is nothing more than an underground mud puddle that will dry up with enough use.  I still felt like this was progress, so I paid!

The same guy wanted double the money to install another well if could pump up 100 gallons in august.  This guy put the well in and demanded payment before the august test.  What an ugly mess.  In the end, we never did do the full test, but Fred did get about 20 gallons over a few hours and felt confident that it would hit 100 gallons in a day.   I paid - but I still suspect that with regular use it will drop to less then 10 gallons a day in august.  And that guy was pretty sleazy.

I think that digging a normal well on the lab will cost about $20k.  But it's possible that they dig down and then ...  "nothing yet - should I keep going?"    So I think it is wise to not start unless we have $50k ready to go.

So if the kickstarter hits $100k, after all the expenses (kickstarter, kickbacks, the project, the stretch goals, etc.) that will leave us with about $50k.

So we wanna hit $100k.   So we can get a proper well at wheaton labs.

I'm really excited about this one--Josiah & I both ended up at Wheaton Labs because we won tickets in last year's Kickstarter. I can't wait to meet the people who get this year's tickets!
