Unravel an old sweater for yarn - PEP BB textiles.straw.repair.unravel

My earlier unravel projects were already done before this BB existed (and much of that yarn is knitted now into garments I wear, washclothes a.a). But now I have another 'sweater' (in fact it's a sort of poncho, but I think it will count too) to unravel. Not the easiest project, because this one is made of a mohair blend (very hairy 'sticky') yarn.

Maybe this will count as a BB ... maybe it won't.
I forgot to take a photo of the thing before I started unraveling. It was a small 'poncho' with a large 'col' (wide turtleneck), not a real sweater.
It had the shape of a large rectangle, folded double, with the 'col' in one corner. There were seems that I had to cut (not the kind of seems you can unravel). That gave me a pile of short ends of yarn (still usable), but a large part could be unraveled and made into two large balls of yarn.
I thought the mohairy yarn could give me problems, but it went fairly easy.

I finished unraveling the part with the shorter ends of yarn and started making two balls (it was knitted in alternating rows).


Everything is unraveled.
I started knitting a shawl now ... but that's a different BB.

Knitted a shawl out of the unraveled mohair-wool, combined with a handpainted speckled merino wool.

Here is my submission for the Textile - Straw - Unravel an Old Sweater for Yarn BB.

I found a purple sweater at a thrift shop and it had two blocks on the front with acrylic/metallic threads in the yarn but the bulk of the sweater was (likely) pure cotton which I eventually confirmed with a burn test.  The photos below show my harvest.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
- The sweater before
- The sweater during deconstruction and unraveling
- Your harvested balls or skeins of yarn from the sweater

an 18-ounce skein of purple - cotton
a small ball of white pencil roving and one strand of purple
a smaller ball of purple bouclé
a section of knit fabric of cotton/acrylic/metallic that was not harvested

I added "- show that the yarn is 100% natural material (either with the label or using a burn test) " to the badge.

Any submissions above this post go by the old criteria.  

I unknitted a cotton sweater! Each sleeve became a ball and the front left and right became 2 more.... the largest ball was from the back.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
- Deconstructing one adult-sized sweater and unravelling it to harvest the yarn.


To document your completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (less than two minutes):
- The sweater before
- The sweater during deconstruction and unravelling
- Your harvested balls or skeins of yarn from the sweater
- show that the yarn is 100% natural material (either with the label or using a burn test)
