I had a nice gift in my inbox yesterday.  I got a look at two of the cards that are now finished.  I'm not a word smith, so help out if you want, my best may be to call them awe-inspiring.  I can see masses of Permies marching out giving out the purple playing cards to everyone.  Ah what a vision!

As I told a neighbor after giving him a copy of Paul's saving the world book and a deck of cards, "I'm going to break your head open from the inside out"  A few days later he told me you just might do that!!

Andres and i are trying to figure out "one eyed jacks"  - the jack of spades and the jack of hearts.

In the first deck of permaculture playing cards, the one-eyed jacks were depicted with Egyptian eyes . We are figuring out some options for the purple deck! i'm paul wheaton and this is my 16th kickstarter.

when you are bonkers about permaculture, you might seem a bit crazy to friends and family.  

12 years ago we came out with a deck of permaculture playing cards.  The idea was to give decks to people, as gifts, so you seem less crazy. It worked so well, people asked for another deck!  We slowly put together a list of more than 100 card ideas, took the best, and we now present "the purple deck!"

The magic is that you give a deck of cards to somebody that thinks you are crazy.  They open the deck and look at two cards, giving each of the two cards seven seconds of their time.  We hope to hook them into permaculuture in two cards!

Is there enough interest in these cards to get them printed?

I don't have a preference for any of the One-eyed Jacks.

If you can swing the License, I would vote for the Minion version.

I forget, since it has been a long time since I looked at the orange deck of cards, are the face cards all permaculture people with their portraits? If so, it seems like an option to do the portraits in profile to create the "one-eyed jacks".

Another design option would be to alter the letters (rather than adulterating the symbols for the suits).

Rather than all upper-case letters, the "one-eyed jacks" could be simply lower-case "j", which would allow the differentiation of those two cards for gameplay. The "pip" on the lower-case "j" is evocative of "one-eye", and a variation on this idea could stylize the "pip" to be an "eye" rather than a simple dot.

For the singular "suicide king"/ king of hearts, this different "K" could be either "mirrored" (backwards), or "lazy" (the vertical part made horizontal at the base) which could also be interpreted as "dead" (or maybe just resting, or pining for the fjords, an ex-king...)

As for the designs presented, I would stay away from "Popeye" to avoid violating any copyright issues.

Andres made a video for the kickstarter!  I think it looks good!   Maybe we can share it later today!

  On the large card depicting most of the deck you're showing us there is nothing on the corner suits.  My interest will be all the great information of Permaculture projects. My opinion its just an extra expense

Something is not working right in the tech world

I keep getting notifications about a new post, but there isn’t a new post.

I don’t have any idea what is going on but it’s happened multiple times in the last few days.  I’m going to “stop watching”.

I've had the same thing happen recently, not with this thread, but with several others.
