Edge case submission
I made a spaghetti dinner for a group of veterans and some of their partners. I covered their faces with smiles because some of them didn't want their pictures to be posted on the internet. There were a total of 18-20 people (one of the guys & one of the kids didn't want to eat).
The meal was simple: red sauce done 2 ways (one w/meat & mushrooms & one w/o meat or mushrooms), extra ground beef for anyone wanted extra, salad (romaine lettuce, cucumber, dices tomatoes, baby carrots & cheese) & garlic bread.
Everyone seemed to enjoy it! I almost didn't have enough garlic bread (even though I did make 4 boxes). I realized afterward that I forgot to get pictures of the coffee and tea I made. I hope that's okay. Do I need to explain how I did everything? I can if someone wants me to.

Note: Looks like you're missing the pics of the dishes being cleaned up and the clean kitchen and dining room.  Plus we don't see 8 people eating in that first pic.  Can you post those photos so we can approve your awesome meal?  Thanks!

I will happily upload more pictures of everyone eating (although you can't see the one kid who decided to eat because he decided to eat in another room and watch while his brother mess with his laptop).
As for the cleanup pictures...yeah, I completely forgot to take them because I was so busy cleaning up. 😅
If the lack of cleanup pictures keeps me from getting the BB, I understand and will try again in the next month or two.

Darn...  Yes, to pass the BB you have to have all the required pictures.  Sorry...

Please note, one requirement was changed to match Food Prep:

- as in the Food Prep and Preservation aspect, no aluminum or teflon/coated cookware, microwave ovens or plastic touching the food (including bowls and utensils) is allowed

Then I won't be able to get this BB any time soon because I can't afford to accommodate that particular additional clause on my limited budget and with my disabilities (no, I'm not on disability).

Additions like this (after the fact) make me feel very discouraged. . .especially in my financial situation/struggling. It makes it that much harder to keep trying when it seems like everything is against me attempting to be self sustainable.

Yeah, it's tricky to keep the program up-to-date and nimble while allowing folks to be grandfathered.  Any time we change requirements, if someone posts pretty soon after the change, we usually grandfather them in (depending on the situation).  Once we changed a bunch of BBs in a badge and tried to give people a couple months warning before changing the badge requirements.

In this case you had it done but just missed the clean up photos.  Dang.  Unfortunately your cooking pics were what helped us realize we should copy the Food Prep requirements over to this Community (and the Rocket) cooking BBs.  So thanks for helping us catch that!

Luckily this BB only requires cooking for 8 so maybe some day you can do a crock pot dinner for folks using a ceramic crock pot.

Here is my submission for the Community Aspect - Sand for Straw - Prepare and Clean up a Basic Community Meal BB.

BB20 2022 - Thursday - Wheaton Labs: I decided to make Chili and Cornbread from scratch.  I shredded some of the cheese that Mike brought to share and bought some sour cream.  I also grabbed the chips and salsa as they would go well with the meal.  I served at least 10 people (plus me).

I started by soaking Kidney, black, and pinto beans on Thursday morning.  Then in the afternoon, I transferred the pinto beans to the large instapot (stainless steel) and cooked them for several minutes (Pintos take longer to cook than the other beans) while sauteing the onions and garlic on the stovetop (cast iron pan).  Next, I combined the rest of the beans, all the spices, tomatoes, and onions to the large instapot and mixed well.  Then I transferred about 1/3 of the ingredients to the small instapot.  Beef broth went into the large instapot and mushroom broth went into the smaller instapot and cooking ensued.

A double batch of Cornbread went into the 10" cast iron pan and into the oven.

To show I've completed this Badge Bit, I have provided the following:
- post a list of all the foods you are serving, and say how many people you served
- a picture of the food being prepared
- a picture of the 8 people eating your food! (we assume you are person #9 behind the camera)
- a picture of the dishes being cleaned up
- a picture of a clean kitchen and dining area
