Dave Burton wrote:In this Badge Bit, you will rmanually clean an oven with only water and baking soda.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - manually clean an oven
      - use only water and baking soda

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
   - a before picture of the dirty oven
   - an action shot of oven during cleaning with water and baking soda
   - an after picture of clean oven
   - OR a 2-minute video of you doing this

The oven was a mess after pizza night so it needed a deep clean. I used water, baking soda, and elbow grease.

Edge case submission
Here goes:

I'm pretty good at staying on top of oven cleaning, so there wasn't too much to scrub off.

Note: A dry cloth might take the film off.  Then add a better clean picture.

I'm not sure how to get the resubmission for my edge case post approved. I think maybe I clicked "Submit reply" the first time, so this time I'm quoting my resubmission and clicking "Submit for BB certification".

Submission flagged incomplete
I cleaned my oven for the first time yesterday. The baking soda did a lot and I am going to start buying the 5-lb bags of baking soda instead of the 1-lb bags from now on.

After I cleaned the oven by hand, I ran the self clean cycle to get another BB and to get the last bits of cooked on food.

Here is the oven before cleaning.

Here it is with the racks taken out (pre-cleaning)

I used baking soda. It required quite a lot so in the future I will buy bigger bags of the stuff.

I mixed the baking soda with water and smeared it around the inside of the oven. It took a lot more than I expected to make the paste so at some point I just sprinkled more baking soda on a few places.

Scrubbing with a walnut scrubber.

Ew my bucket of water is getting gross.

Wiping off with a rag after scrubbing.

After cleaning with only baking soda and water. This is a major improvement.

After completing the process for the manually clean an oven BB, I ran the self clean and you can see the results here:

Tried this again on someone else's oven because mine was already too clean after running the self clean.

If this is not clean enough for the BB, please let me know what I can do to make it cleaner.

The oven before cleaning.

Getting ready to mix baking soda and water.

Starting to spread the paste around.

Scrubbing the baked-on stains and wiping all the extra grease and baking soda.

A clean oven.

I'd appreciate it if you pronounced my name correctly. Pinhead, with a silent "H". Petite ad:
