I put the red message at the top to show all the time for everybody.

Everything from most of the day yesterday was accidentally lost during the move.

Holy moose! We have a mobil-compatible version of the site!
BUT what is with the new restriction of no .pdf file allowed as a file attachment? How can we post white papers and such??

Congrats on getting this up and running Paul and Andrew!

I use Firefox (v. 8.0) and didn't have any of the issues Ken and Dave mentioned, fwiw. My password reset and subsequent log in went smoothly.

Good catch. We'll get that corrected.

Low priority visual stuff: Mobile version still has the Java Ranch Moose at the top of the page. Both mobile and full say "The current ranch time (not your local time) is" that may be OK with you. Just pointing it out.

Good catch.

We should also check all the static pages and wiki pages to make sure they are okay.

What about the ability to edit previous posts (typos, adding file attachments)?

The Search seems to be totally wonky; also, why not to have a simple and advanced option?

At the top of each forum is a simple search. And then if you click on the "search" link at the top of any page, you get the advanced.

Editing old posts is .... different. You do get a few minutes after you post.

I hope if we realize hours later that what we posted was stupid and embarrassing, that we can ask a moderator to delete it.

Maybe I didn't notice this somewhere else, but what is up with this Hatfield and McCoy stuff? I'm also bummed that a bunch of my messages were erased, and I'll have to redo them. Why was this done?

It seems that some glitches with the new software have occurred, and several people have lost posts. Some that were posted on the day of the move, and some since.

This is frustrating, and I apologize for the trouble this is causing. It is just growing (and improving) pains.

The Hatfield and McCoy story can be found here ---> http://www2.permies.com/t/11241/tinkering-site/hatfields-vs-mccoys

The long standing policy on this site is that we use first name <SPACE> last name. It was mentioned that with the new software, all names that did not comply with that policy would be automatically given either Hatfield, or McCoy as a last name. You can go to "My Profile" and request a new name.

The missing posts were an unfortunate side-effect of transitioning to the new software. Any posts made while the existing data was being migrated were not included with the migration. The only way to have avoided that would have been to shut down the site during the transitiom. Sorry (I lost some also).

I'm loving this recent topics button, especially since you can read the full topic, no going from forum to forum to get the latest thread's of the day. I always ended up ignoring threads due to multiple tab exhaustion. Now I can just scroll through hot biscuits with fervent refresh syndrome.

Be careful - I don't know the difference between weeds and plants. Are you sure you want to be friends now?

(Having said that, I was able to convince a work-colleague that LED lights were better than CFLs, and I may get my neighbor looking at rocket-mass heaters, so it is not all lost for me. And my neighbor wants me to put a bee hive in my back yard next spring).

Super.... you want to ease into things slow at first anyway. Your already ahead of many.

Around here weeds are plants. Read more articles and you will see... this isn't your typical garden club.
