I get the dailyish, but all the 'offers' seem to be to purchase something, even after I log in. Am I missing something? e.g. I checked on the Permaculture Mag offer and it asked me to purchase it. In my account it states I've been offered a free mag three times, but I don't recall ever getting that, only the offer to purchase.

Steve, see this thread regarding the Permaculture Mag offer and the solution:

thanks, but that's the link i used and took a screenshot of. I get an offer to subscribe and an offer purchase. When I check on my 'goodies' list it shows dozens of freebies i supposedly been offered but haven't accepted, as these were also offers to purchase. Some offers though do show up a freebies. I starting recieving these as a sponsor of a kickstarter.

Steve, Did you not see the solution?

Thank you all so much! There was a mix-up in the link, and so I'm currently granting you all permissions to the thread.

If you still are having a problem, please post to that thread so our techs can figure out the problem.

yes thanks, as I stated I still get the same result using the new link.
My problem is with most offers in general, which is why I used the advertised link to report problems here rather than on that thread.
I am definitely logged in, can see my account details, including the list of all the 'freebies' I've missed, but they did not appear as freebies to me.
I think of ~40, two so far have shown up as freebies, which I accepted (Bees and Cheat sheets).
FYI I'm using Firefox 88.1 (64 bit) for Linux Mint 1.0 on a Dell Latitude E5430 running Mint 18.3 with all current updates.
I have privacy badger enabled.
I'm connected to a 25/6Mbs cable internet via VPN & Wifi I'm not experiencing any connection or access issues with other services.
Other permies site functions appear to work normally i.e. starting or responding to a thread, adding attachments, searching, ordering, payments etc.

I think I've figured it out! This image shows that you've been emailed those freebies, but did not claim ("obtain") them within 48 hours.

To obtain the freebie, you have to click the link in the dailyish within 48 hours of it being sent out. If you miss that window, the chance will come around after the other ones have been sent out (tip: click each freebie link that comes in your inbox, even if you don't particularly want it. That way, if you miss one you want, it'll come back around sooner because it'll cycle through each freebie you haven't gotten before it gets back to that one).

All you have to do to obtain a freebie, is to click the link in the dailyish email within 48 hours of it coming to you. Then that freebie is added eternally to your My Stuff, and you can access/download/view/etc it whenever is most convenient to you.

I hope that helps!

Yes but this is what I'm explaining; I receive the email, follow the link, and instead of a freebie I get an offer to purchase something, as happened today with the magazine.
Those few that have actually yielded a free product I have redeemed, but all the others were not free at all- they were simply the product page with the option to purchase something.
See the attached shows a link to download the freebie, as it should. The others never did.
Of all the ones shown on the goodies list only 2 actually worked as a freebie when offered. None of the others did.

If you could share links to the goodies you can't access, that would be really helpful, Some of them are videos, and you might not have spotted them. If you post the links, I'll hopefully be able to figure out what's going on. Thanks!

This is the 104th issue, which has never been offered as a dailyish freebie. (I was recently given out as a kickstarter reward,) There is a reward for the 100th issue , which was sent to you on the 12th. You'll want to go to the dailyish on that day and click the link in the dailyish. That should add the issue to your account (if the 48 hour window hasn't ended...I'm thinking it might have, because I'm pretty sure I sent that dailyish in the morning, and it's almost 11pm here now.). When the next freebie arrives in your inbox, please click the link and tell me if that works. That will really help us make sure everything is working correctly.

Here are some links for what are described as freebies that require a dailyish subscription, but which did not avail access at the time on following the link sent in the dailyish. They are listed when I log in at https://permies.com/goodies#freebies
I'm not sure which ones are for the Kickstarter reward but the same problem exist in those.
Note I'm not requesting free access to all these, some of which I already have. I'm just describing a problem permies.com may be unaware of that effects users.

Hi team. Did we get any further with this issue?. I see messages about similar problems going back to early 2020.

Hi Nicole, did we get anything further on the disappearing freebies?
I carefully copied most of the links from my account page as requested but haven't had any response.

I am trying to read this and get my head wrapped around it.

I think that an important ingredient is that a freebie is typically offered for 48 hours.  If you miss the 48 hour window, then you cannot get it and you need to wait until it is offered again.

When explaining the problem, I think an important piece that you say "I receive the email, follow the link, ..." but the piece we need you to say is something like "Within three hours of receiving the email, I follow the link ...."  otherwise the problem could be that you are following the link when the email is five days old - and a five day old link will not give you the freebie.

Thanks for the response. I usually try the link immediately I open it, which might be a day after the email was sent, but often within hours. With the one last week (the 15th?) (which i think was from the kickstarter or book purchase rather than dailyish subscription) I did it within minutes of receiving the email.

So the link is well within the 48 hours grace period.  And you are definitely logged in, right?

yes, definitely logged in, can see my name at the top right and access other parts of the account. I'm not 100% about the first few, but when it kept happening I started to pay more attention, 'read the f'ing instructions' and make sure I was logged in. I thought it might be my security settings, vpn, browser add-ons etc but changing them doesn't seem to make any difference.

Steven, when you access a freebie link given in the dailyish email, what does it say? Do you get some sorta error message?

hi Devaka, no error messages. It's as shown above on the screenshot of the Permaculture Magazine; offer to purchase button, just as it would be if it wasn't a freebie.

Hi Devaka, just reporting the same non access issue is occurring today. I received 4 'offers' around 8am this morning. Each link leads to the product page with an offer to purchase. None of them avail the product without purchasing. I note the text states "give access to" not actually freebie. Am i misinterpreting the offer? I thought it was one of the rewards for supporting the kickstarter;

Hi Steven!

Last night I sent out SKIP kickstarter rewards, and it looks like you recieved them in your email...but I'm thinking you used a different email to sign up for the kickstarter than you use for permies. And, your access to those things are tied to your email.

Could you please PM me the email address you used to support the kickstarter? Or just add that email as a secondary email to your account in your profile settings? (If you need help with the latter, just ask and I'll get you some screenshots)

Thanks!

I tried to enter the other address as a secondary one but was blocked with a message 'someone else is using it'. it seems the kick-starter created a 'phantom' account user name umglh5wq using that other email address. I was able to log in using that email address without entering a password and apart from the email address the profile is completely empty. I couldn't see how to destroy that account, but if you can please do so and add the alternative email to my real account.

I've pushed the buttons, and your two accounts are merged together! It looks like all your kickstarter goodies merged over without a problem, and now you have access to everything you should.

If you encounter any problems, please tell me and I'll look into them.

Thanks!

I have someone who hoped to get the PEP Badge tracker as a dailyish freebie.

May I bring their post to this thread so we can sort things out together?

Can they post the question?

Several reasons why it's best they post it themselves.  The biggest two:
1. they have to be logged in to post (fixes like 90% of problems - no seriously, it's amazing how many things this fixes.  This is why we encourage people to post their questions to the forums themselves.)
2. we can see the status of the account

If they missed the tracker, they can go to the freebie list and press the button saying they want it soon and it will come around again as a link in the bottom of the daily-ish.

He's posted it, here: permies.com/t/119152#2384880

I just was wondering if this (or a different thread) was the right place to send him, and I don't know the troubleshooting formula for the freebie stuff.

I see.  They already have the daily-ish freebie, just need help knowing how to download it.
I answered in that thread.
