This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Textiles.

It is lovely to snuggle into a warm sweater until ... it starts pilling!  Time to clean up that lovely garment.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - remove pills/pilling from at least one piece of clothing like a wool sweater or leggings
 - use a manual or electric device like a razor or a sweater shaver
 - clarification: using only a tape lint roller is not sufficient

To document your completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pictures or video (less than two minutes):
 – the garment showing lint/pills
 – the materials or device(s) used to remove lint and pills
 – an action shot of pills being removed
 – the same garment after your ministrations
 – provide commentary on the process if it is not obvious

Crazy Organized has several ideas on this topic and The Spruce has ideas on how to prevent future pilling.

Here is my submission for the Textiles - Straw - Remove Pills from Clothes BB.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
– the garment showing lint/pills
– the materials or device(s) used to remove lint and pills
– an action shot of pills being removed
– the same garment after your ministrations

I used an electric sweater shaver.  The collection box got lost in the closet so I custom fit a ziploc bag to capture the removed pills.
I decided that while I had the shaver out, I took care of two wool sweaters and three polyester sweaters.

Removing pills is something I have always intended to do... because I know it's so easy. And yet I've never done it before! This BB was a great excuse to finally try it out!

I used an old razor to de-pill the sweater and touched up with a sticky lint roller because I had some fuzz residue hanging about.

I only took pictures of the back of the sweater, as it was pretty much only the back of the sweater that needed it. I guess this is because the front has a different stitching.

I'm anti-buying these razors for obvious reasons, but they work fine for removing clothing pills if you have one laying around.

It's hard to see on the pink sweater, but it was collecting dark fibres on it that gave it a kind of grey halo. I could definitely see a difference in fluffs sticking off the sides too, when flat.

Did a few other sweaters, too, but didn't take pics of all of them.
