I have read through the requirements for plant 5 trees and have some questions on the types of trees that are required to be planted.
Do the trees have to be weeping willow, cotton
wood or poplar or can they be something else which does the same thing?
My take on achieving the
BB is to get rid of water and waste lying around which is likely to be a pollutant to the surrounding area and can potentially get into waterways.
I have found this site. It provides a plant resource for Australia.

Willows are a weed of national significance and cannot be sold or planted in NSW

In short, to plant willow, we would be breaking the law.
Cottonwood and poplar species are reasonably difficult to establish in this area because during summer, the days can get to 45deg C (113 deg F) and be accompanied by a dry hot wind. They are more suited to temperate climates with a higher rain fall. I have seen the wind cook all the leaves off a tree. The other thing with these two plants is that they are not
native to our area.
Casurina species are naturalised/ native to our area and achieve the same end result.
https://www.nurseriesonline.com.au/plant-index/australian-native-plants/casuarina/ As a serendipity, the seed pods are a food source for the endangered black cockatoo and other parrot species.
Can casurina be used as an alternative species to achieve the BB?
Thanks, Appreciate your consideration and advice
Cheers
