So I received a bootcamp signup from somebody with "seg" in their email address.  I sent the info about the next step and found the bounce message in my spam folder.  Fuck.  Okay.  So I forwarded the email using a different email account of mine.  

And instantly i get:

Address not found
Your message wasn't delivered to xxx@xxx because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.
The response from the remote server was:
554 5.1.1 <xxx@xxx>: Recipient address rejected: undeliverable address: host server266.web-hosting.com[68.65.123.43] said: 550 No Such User Here (in reply to RCPT TO command)

(I replaced the actual email address stuff with "xxx")

Hoping that this person will read this, or maybe in a few days they will reply to this thread asking why they haven't received further instructions.

Note that boots can get a ride to and from the airport on weekends for $15 for normal hours and $35 for wacky hours (9pm to 7am).  No rides during boot project time (monday through friday).

And boots can get a subsidy of $20 for giving a ride with your own rig for the first two rides for a boot.

Alright, I'm planning on coming down tomorrow, and I should have asked these questions before now, but here we are.

Will I be able to utilize my car to get to church on Sundays?
Will I have to attend church in Missoula or could I attend a more local congregation?

I have meds that I need to take in order to function.

Will I be able to utilize my car to get these meds as I need them?
Will I have to go to Missoula to get the meds filled or could I fill them at a more local pharmacy?

yes, you can use your car to do whatever you want.  

you can attend whatever church you want.

When i get a prescription (which is super rare) I tend to go to missoula.  I would think that if i got them locally ... well ...  I would need to be okay with the whole community knowing ....    I think some small towns are not this way and some are.  I think this one is "that way."

I don't remember I did second step which is filled out the questionnaire, so I just want to make sure am I already on the waitlist? Is there's any way for me to check if i am on the waitlist?

I am Jay.  I've been digging Permies.com for a while without chiming in on anything.  I was really excited to find multiple someone elses speaking about getting back to simple living close to the earth...  a lifestyle of respect for the living world and a desire to bring healing to it, rather than our "modern" reality which is and does pretty much the opposite.

Looks like no one has posted here in ages, but I'm really looking hard at coming out to do the boot camp and want to ask a few questions.

1.  Why is "responsible hooching" ok, but using your own home-grown cannabis for medicinal, nutritional, and fiber purposes not?  Very much an notion I'd expect more in darker regions of the zombie parade.

2.  I have a big 5x8 trailer with solar panels and tools I would like to bring.  Is there space for that?

I don't see your info signed up in our stuff - so it looks like you won't be coming out.

1:  if you have to ask, I think you are not a fit for our group.  There are lots of reasons, all of which I am sure you would find unacceptable.  So it wraps up as "personal preference."  Most importantly, we have had many, many, many people here who have said "thank you so much for drawing this line."

2: yup - no problem!


If you ever find yourself at a point in your life where you want to be all done with weed, maybe we'll pop into your head then.

Yes, but it will probably be up at the Lab and not at basecamp.

Two corrections....
1. apparently I HAVE chimed in a few times on the forums!
2, it seems the page I found and posted my previous questions from was an old or partial version of the bootcamp discussion???  ...I see loads more posts (and recent too) when I checked to see if my post had showed up!

My questions were rather blunt and direct, and so I recognize they probably inspire a lot of other questions on y'all's end.  I'll try to clarify a bit, but I'm feeling a little reluctant to go much more personal detail right out in the open here.  I will share that I've never smoked a cigarette and drink zero hooch of any kind (unless Kombucha counts!).  I have a super clean lifestyle.  I have not used a pharmaceutical in at least 2 decades, including aspirin.  As an herbalist, trainer, massage practitioner, general all-natural health enthusiast, and someone who has learned to question the official narrative (as it seems the majority of people frequenting permies.com do) of whatever the Great and Powerful Oz claims to be for our good, I am wondering why the wholesale banning of such an amazing plant (cannabis, specifically).  Many places out here have "hemp" incorporated into their names because of the huge role they played on early homesteads during the colonial period.  People are capable of abusing anything, aren't they?...  including Doritos!  How about video games?...  facebook?  The official position of Wheaton Labs on this topic seems out of tune with the melody flowing in all the other aspects of the great life/lifestyle being lived and promoted out there.  Is everyone who values cannabis (or any entheogen for that matter) a defacto lazy, trouble-making pothead?  Maybe there is a subtler rationale behind the ban.  ?  I'm suddenly having a deja vu-like feeling as if I asked this somewhere on the forum once before....  hmmm.  Sorry if it was answered already.

Anyway, if there's a strong reason for banning it, it's not a deal-breaker for me.   It would require a shift in lifestyle away from what is part of a positive way of maintaining my health and how I would like to obtain fiber for clothing.  I'd just like to know if it's open for discussion or could be considered on a case-by-case.  Doing my due diligence.    I hope addressing this doesn't make anyone uncomfortable.

I gather from all the other things I have read about life in boot camp (at Wheaton Labs in general) that there's a lot of flexibility and time is taken to hear people out...  that value is placed in hearing a variety of perspectives on any particular topic.

About the trailer...
she is bulky, heavy, and full of things I would be using to build my place, bermed greenhouse, and all other projects I'd be helping on out there.  It looks a bit like the Flying Dutchman at the moment....  mostly due to the tattered condition of the  tarps on her.

Details will be sent about a week before your expected arrival date.  You will hear from jeff and he will provide you with a cell number in case you need to do text stuff (or whatever) before you arrive.

From texas ...   in denver, stop to see meow wolf.   If you arrive in missoula on saturday morning, you gotta go to the saturday market.

Projects:  solar pump stuff.  roundwood timber framing stuff.  

Boots today:  dez, magdalene, grey, caleb, stephen, cory, hau, briella ...   fred is here, but he is pretty much retired, but he still does some boot stuff from time to time.  

Remember that you arrive on sunday between 3 and 4.  Please don't arrive early or late.

Am I right that if all goes well for the first week that I'll be able to stay longer? That was the impression I got from the website just want to make sure...

We kinda figure most people will be here for several weeks.  A few can only get one week off from their workee-job.  Of course, some people try it out and decide to move on.  

Dez has now been here over two years and Fred ...   I think it is now six years ...  or is it seven ...  it is definitely seven years!  Wow, seven years!

The Bootcamp looks really exciting, a great challenge and appealing to me.

I do have a few questions, though, which Beau kindly answered but I’d still appreciate further clarification if possible, please.

The one big reservation I have is sharing personal / sleeping space with other people. While I’m open-minded and keen to learn and explore new things, it’s very important to me to have my own safe-feeling, quiet space to return to at the end of the day. If it’s acceptable to live in a single tent at night, that would be more than fine with me. I’m just double checking if this would be okay, please?

The other thing that I’ve been wondering about is do you accept at Wheaton Labs women from abroad? I’m based in the UK and am hoping that Brexit won’t prevent me from staying with you for longer periods of time?

Lastly, I have a beloved male (castrated) tom cat called Buddy who if I were to stay long-term, I’d like to have with me. How possible would this be, please?

We have had people in the bootcamp from all over the world.

Yes, you may sleep in a tent. We are in the mountains of Montana, depending on the time of year you visit it may be cold and snowy outside.

As you can see from our BRK post we have many cats around the lab. As long as you take of him and take appropriate measures if he doesn't get along with the other cats (like setup his own space away from the other cats), it shouldn't be a problem.

Will there be any opportunity to learn permaculture during the winter months?  or is it completely dead up there?  I'm likely going to have some extended time off of work around December - possibly as much as a month, and was thinking about coming up there for either bootcamp or sepper program and wanted to know if it would be worth my while, or if it would be better to wait till summer - although there's no gaurantee I'll have enough time off work in summer to come.  my email is prestongorman10@gmail.com if someone wants to message me there.
