UPDATE!  We are now shifted to a new model:

  https://permies.com/t/234978/income-boots-seppers-residents-visitors

tl;dr:  $100 to $500+ per video.

To anybody ...   boots, ants, deep roots, event attendees ...

I wish to get to the point that I have 20 videos in the hopper and am putting out a new youtube video every other day.  Just like I used to.   I feel like the bar for video quality needs to be heavy on substance.   I wish for videos that state what the topic is and will continue to have value 15 years later.  Perennial videos.

Here is a very short video that I think is great:

Here is another great video that is kinda short:

A good video that is a little longer:

The point is:  content rich and a focused topic that is edited.  Each vid is a brick to build a better world.

I'll pay $100 for a video that is less than five minutes.   And $200 for a video that is 8 minutes or longer.  And something in between for something in between.  For something really excellent, I might go higher.

$100 bonus:  if the video is really good  **AND**  didn't require any teaching from me (so, probably not your first few videos)  **AND**  you took the video yourself.  So you could get $200 for a short video or $300 for a longer video.

ANOTHER $200 BONUS!  If you are currently in the bootcamp full time, an anonymous benefactor is adding $200 per video for the next 50 videos.

Each video must contain:

   - a shoutout to three of the top 12 patreon supporters
   - the music at the end and the "if you like this sort of thing" message (does not have to be my voice)
   - about 8 seconds at the end of each video to do “youtube endscreens” which is often a video about a current kickstarter and the like.   This is a good place to put a blooper or something silly.
   - properly balanced, quality sound
   - no editing errors

In addition to the video I need:

  - a strong title
  - the text description
  - tags
  - thumbnail image

If there are people in the video, please make sure they have proper safety gear if they are doing something that might call for it.

Each video I post has the list of patreon supporters in order of support.

Boots in the bootcamp are permitted up to 5% to 10% of each day for taking pictures or video (but not for editing or posting).

For onscreen text, use the font "VAG rounded"

I wish this was for my channel:

There are about a hundred things here that need a video.

On a related note, if you make a movie quality two hour movie that could be turned into a kickstarter, I would pay $3000 for that.  Or a 4 movie set would pay $12,000.

Once you get good at editing videos, you can probably throw together four short videos in four hours.  So that would be $800 in four hours.  $200 per hour!

I'm thinking that this is directed mostly at boots.  But it could also be seppers, ants, deep roots or event attendees.

We do have a couple of laptops here that boots can use.  They are set up with linux and some video editing software (lightworks).

I am thinking that each of my future kickstarters that earn more than X dollars, we set aside dollars for this project since that will help us to make more stuff for future kickstarters.  More video equipment, laptops and funds for paying for more youtube videos.

For this offer, yes.  The video must be taken at wheaton labs.  I suppose it can be edited elsewhere.

I wonder if someone could do a sort of SKIP series of videos. Maybe pick some of the easiest--or most interesting--Badge Bits and make a video of how you did it at Wheaton Labs. When I first found permaculture, I really loved how useful Paul's videos were. They documented a skill or bit of knowledge that I really wanted to know about. And, I didn't even know I needed to know about those things, until I saw Paul's video on it!

I noticed on the google sheet that there's a section for BBs. Most of those seem to be the roundwood BBs, but I think there's a lot of cool other BBs that could be done at Wheaton Labs.

- Sit outside with a cozy cat and show how and why to darn a sock!

- Show how to cook in a slow cooker!

- Make a map of Wheaton Labs, and do a quick video tour (maybe even snagging video from Paul's other videos) to show the different places on the map.

- Sit on a cozy rocket mass heater bench and turn some shirts into rags, and explain what materials to use and what to use rags for.

Added bonus, you could get a lot of BBs accomplished this way!

I probably won't be at Wheaton labs anytime soon to help with this directly, but if there is someone who wants to tackle this but doesn't know how to or doesn't want to edit a video I can help with that! Just send me a purple mooseage and we can work something out.

I see that Ashley mentioned in the dailyish that this is for earning coin over the internet.  I am thinking it is really about coin for people here, or here for a bit.  I suspect that people could be here for an event, video stuff, take that video home and then harvest this coin - that sounds fine.

I just received coin from an anonymous benefactor who says that for the next 100 videos that go into my channel from a current, full time boot, there is a bonus $100 per video.

Do you have raw footage somewhere that you would like edited into specific segments? If you do, I know someone who does that for me for a community I manage.

Hi there! I have finally found some time to work on the videos that I took during the BB20 Event a few weeks ago. Is someone able to share with me the music track that goes at the end of the video please?

Thanks!

Here is an possible scenario I sent to an incoming SEPPer.

Knowing how much work can go into video editing since you are new to it, being conservative with my numbers, I will estimate you can put out one video in a 4hr block. The first couple you will probably some need help so you won't get that $100 bonus.
So for this example say you do half short vids ($100) and half long vids ($200).
Week one - short vid needing some help = $100.
Week two - long vid needing some help = $200.
     Week three - short vid w/o help - $100 + $100 (no help bonus) = $200
     Week four - long vid w/o help = $300
1st month earnings: $800 for 16 hrs work ($50/hr - for your first month)
$800 will cover your SEPPer rental plus some. Of course you could send more than 4hrs a week if you want to do more vids. After the first few months you will get quicker and be able more in 4hrs.

If this is done outside of boot day so you can be a full-time boot, you currently can get another bonus.

Let's say someone wanted to make decently produced videos for PEP BBs.  Say a 1-2 minute quick run through as they make a club style mallet or fell a tree.  Covering the requirements of the BB, showing them doing the task and promoting the SKIP program.  Would that seem interesting?

Bonus, if it's under 2 minutes it could count as their submission for the BB.

I'm imagining someone could video their whole SKIP journey and get paid at the same time.  Of course, this would only be if Paul wants it on his channel...

Andres says he will do the editing if a boot sends him the raw video.  And then the two of you can split the fat coin.

Editing videos can be time consuming, but if you make them short to begin with - a minute, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqoBf__Qxxw
it is more doable.

Is this still a need? I used to work in the film and TV industry editing videos but now live in the wilds of Alaska working towards a purely subsistence lifestyle. Just found out about permies and love it.I would give some consideration to contributing if the need is not already being met.

Hi, I have a bit of photography/videography and YouTube creation. I am not nearby, wife and I may be interested in boot camp next year. I am in Wisconsin, we had a big garden last year and still stay active in sustainable living, entrepreneurship, etc.

Anywho, let me know if you need someone to make videos and the details. I think it'd be fun and I bought a new Macbook and need to justify the purchase to myself XD.

Obviously I cannot take the videos myself, but could edit the raw footage, add images, weed out the fluff, add transitions, clean it up, upload to Youtube, etc.

I resemble these remarks. I worked in Hollywood as a film editor for years, but that was in a previous life; these days I have a very different career and live in the Midwest, but I am still a skilled editor. If people have shot footage but don't have the time or skills to edit into videos, I'd be happy to do it and split the money.
