Aspens are a kind of poplar tree. Poplar is a big group of trees, 35 species or so, including willows and cottonwoods and aspens. Here is a Britannica page about them: https://www.britannica.com/plant/poplar

so I am confused what is meant by "poplar" tree for this bb?

Good point Rebekah, sorry I didn't see your post till just now.  I think anything in the Populus genus would meet muster for this BB

Edge case submission
Curly willow for my poop beast. They will form an important part of my fedge https://permies.com/wiki/125939/Direct-Seed-Grow-Perennials-PEP
My husband doug a French drain from the back northeast corner of our house that ended about a foot from our fence. Now that the fence posts are rotting out  he has hired a contractor to do earthworks and replace the wood fence with chain-link. I don't want to look at chain-link all the time, plant 100 ft  fedge BB to the rescue. Unfortunately when the contractor did the earthworks he extended the pipe so now the drain dumps on our neighbors property  and I dislike shoving it off onto someone else without trying to fix it 1st. Curly willow harvested from a neighbor's yard now breaking buds in my window while I wait for next week's freeze to pass.
Edit: added picture with twisps of ribbon tied to my cuttings to highlight them.
Additional made a "level 1 pee spot" and as part of that I need to plant 5 poo beasts.

Note: On second thoughts, I can only find one willow cutting when zooming into your final image. Could you please submit a clearer photo showing all 5 planted cuttings?

I took some cuttings from a crooked willow and planted them next to the drainage ditch. 🤞 reallly hoping they take because the water in that area is a problem. My cuttings are quite tall - i don't feel i need to mark them.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - plant five poop beasts
    - willow, cottonwood or poplar (Populus genus)
    - must be planted somewhere where they will get enough water
    - since these do not have a taproot, you can transplant, stick cuttings or plant seed

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
Attachment 1 - a picture of the seeds, cuttings and/or transplants that you are planting
Attachment 2 - a picture of you planting the seeds/transplants/cuttings
Attachment 3 - a picture of the transplanted trees, or a clear label for the spot with the seeds
- OR a 2-minute video of you doing the above

There's a meadow by my house with an endless supply of narrow leaf willow. I then transplanted the cuttings to the first level terrace.

I wild harvested willow and planted it outside the shower at The Sauna up at The Lab. Might have went a little overboard with 10, but hoping at least a couple take!
