Oh, no, sorry, I didn't read the full requirements. I see now, that it must be for a rocket stove. Sorry to post, not fully ready! Does it need to be ash from a full-on RMH? Can it be a little j-tube stove? Or a Dakota stove? Or a primitive rocket kiln made of bricks in my back yard? Just thinking of how to meet this requirement, since I don't have a RMH yet
I think I now know why Paul is so down on pocket rockets. I got one for backpacking and was trying it out at home before I needed it to eat. WOW! Sometimes it goes out in 30 seconds, sometimes it shoots out 2 feet of flame and gives off as much heat as a campfire, and one time it looked like it had gone out felt for heat and it was so little I thought it was the metal acting like a heat sink came back to everything was ash ala ruined biochar.
Hmm, looks like this BB needs some clarification. I just added a requirement for a picture of the RMH with the ash coming out of it. Anyone posting in the next few days is grandfathered in under the old requirements but those also required it to be a rocket mass heater.
- ash coming out of rocket mass heater
- labeled area before ash application
- we want diversity for our garden, so some areas get ash and most don't. Label where there are areas that do get ash to monitor the results.
- area after ash has been applied
While I'm at Wheaton Labs for the Rocket Mass Heater Workshop, I did an annual cleaning of the solarium RMH. I collected some ash, created a label from a tin can lid and a nail, then sprinkled the ash on the east side of turtle lot.

I'm pursuing SKIP to inherit property, check it out for yourself: SKIP book or maybe you're my Otis/Otessa match?

I love that Rocket Mass Heaters are Carbon-Nuetral. In Erica's and Ernies Art of Fire Presentation, Erica explains the chemistry of how that's possible!
I attended Helen's Garden Master Course in January 2022 and give the lectures 10/10 acorns! Fortunately for you, you can also see the Garden Master recordings but unfortunately you'll miss out on the fruit Helen grew and shared. It was the tastiest fruit I've ever had!
Cleaned out Basecamp classroom batch box before I started it. Made a "level 1 pee spot" that only required wood chips but I put down a base of ash and cinders to act like biochar and keep urine nutrients from leaching out. The pee spot also needs 5 poo beasts planted so after I laid down the cuttings I put a scoop of ash and sawdust on them. I hope this counts. The ashes were wet down with the water the pee spot needs.
Edit:Ash label w) no ash and ash dusty pic.
