Blasted out some cleaning this morning at the FPH. While watering the house plant friends, I noticed the seedling transplants are starting to sprout! Both Lofthouse Chariot Tomato pots are sprouting, one WL Tomato, and Holy Basil. It's so neat to see simple things like seeds sprout. The climbing tomato seedlings busted out of their soil quickly early last week and are eagerly growing upward. I noticed the Holy Basil and one of the Fish Peppers in that group also sprouted in the last day or so. So proud of my bebes.

Went out to the plot today to work on some things, but didn't get much done. Harvested some grass for mulch on the house. Saw a beetle friend in the road. Then Matt came over with some compost (woohoo) so I added that to my pile. I had a whole list of seeds I needed to plant today, but instead he and I went out on a walk to the meadow. Saw the cistern on the way out. It was a gorgeous day today, somewhere in the 70sF at least. I've been wearing sandals for the last two days it's been so warm. The tops of my feet have some pink on them. Surely it'll snow tomorrow. The weekend weather was way too nice.

While out and about, he showed me where a tree was that they cut down this week. Then we wandered up the meadow more and found a giant ant hill. Those ants were at least a cm long. Heard some turkeys calling. Saw more tiny white flowers. Introduced Matt to knapweed - so delicious. ;) The ceanothus was dry, but still smelled delightful. I brought a leaf back to Chris since it's one of the only plants he's smelled that he actually likes the smell of. (He can't really smell much, so when he smells something he likes I take heed.)

It was a good day. At the end of it, Chris and I made pupusas for everyone at Basecamp, and Lara and Fred added some citrus rice. IT WAS ALL SO TASTY. We'll have to figure out how to streamline it a bit because we started around 5 and didn't get done til nearly 7:15. Not okay. Or maybe it'll stay a weekend meal and we'll start preparing it at 330.. :D Only took two months to warm up to people and cook for them. woo..

I started a phenology bullet journal last night. I'm curious to see how long I'll last taking notes in it, but so far I like the simplicity of it. I went through all my pictures from since I got here to see if there were things of note. Added those in as well. I was having a hard time figuring out what sort of journal would be a thing I might keep up with and be useful. I think this will work. The colorful wheels of whatnot seemed too intense for my time/energy these days. I'll try to remember to take pictures of it so you can see what sort of observations happen.

Wait. Hold the phone. Knapweed is....delicious??? Tell me more! I knew bees liked it, but had no idea people might, also....
PS. Mystery plant I don't think is burdock- which tends to be fuzzier and more sage green in my experience. So nice to see seeds spouting everywhere!

The longest recorded flight time of a chicken is 13 seconds. But that was done without this tiny ad:
