Permies is gonna try a thing. We're gonna put beautiful images on POD (Print on Demand) sites.  This will be fun for us, fun for people buying the stuff and fun for people that see all the things!  Or, we like pretending it will be fun.  We'll see!

Maybe there will be t-shirts and hats. Or mugs. Somebody suggested sexy underwear (how the hell does that work?)  ...  it's weird all the different things that can have a permaculture bit of art on it.

Do you have something pretty for us to try?  Or witty - we like witty too.  Or both!  Or something else?  All ya gotta do is post it here with a permission image, and we will whisk it away and see if we can leverage it to build mass fortunes for the empire!  BWA HA HA HA HA ... ha ha ..  hmmm.   Well, we might make three dollars a year.  but it will be cool!

When posting it here, we need freaky good resolution for the art.  The permission image can be crappy resolution.  Post to this thread or send to pa at permies.com.

And if you already have a POD thing going that has permaculture stuff, you don't have to give us a damn thing and we will help draw attention to your POD thing.  Make a permies thread and take advantage of all the free stuff we do for permies with online stuff.

Any questions?  Any arty bits?  Any suggestions?

Here is a sample of the permission image.  Short and sweet is the best!

One of the reason we need the 'permission image' is to respect the needs of the POD sites we will utilize, and to respect other creators of original artwork.

BTW, people will ultimately need to send their large high resolution images to you by email before or after they post in the forums as if you "right click" on the images to save them here in the forums it will only save a small low res image to our computers that can't be used on the POD stores. Thanks!

*** On 2nd thought...the image below is NOT a good example of what we can use on the website...but I will leave it here as a bad example. It would be best if your images were square (not rectangular like mine below) and maybe about 3000x3000 pixels saved as a transparent PNG if possible, at 300 dpi...that is not written in stone, but square images are best for reasons too complicated to state here, lol. Sorry!
--------------------------------

Here is another possible one....this was made with a free for commercial use font....the designer of the font does specify that it would be nice if a portion of the sales were sent to charity.  If Mr. Wheaton already donates to charity, then that would be enough to satisfy this caveat.

"Manfred’s fonts are free for private and charity use. They are even free for commercial use – but if there’s any profit, please make a donation to organizations like Doctors Without Borders."

I will email this to the address you posted above with my own permission to use any of the images I share with you on the websites/stores we create. Thanks!

I'll have a look through my photos and see if there's anything good enough.  I don't have the graphic design skills so maybe someone else would have to add the text to it.

I love the art and style of the permaculture playing cards.  I don't know if there's the option to use that on mugs.  Probably all complicated having multiple people working on it, but I like it and think there are a few heroes in there that would look really good on a mug or T-shirt.

Mullion and Fukuoka are among my favourites.

This is something I've been idly thinking of, but my "regular" art doesn't really fall into the category of "permaculture art".  I'll keep contemplating it though.  I look forward to seeing what others come up with!

R. Ranson and Mr. Wheaton....those cards would be great on most of the products! We'd have to probably darken them up a bit.  Mr. Wheaton can you send the original large size of those to the email address you mentioned above or to "my" Paul so we can try them on the website? Thanks and God bless.

I can, but it would take me an hour or two to find them - and then it might be something that take me a few hours to sort out.  These images were quick to find and share.  Could even one of them be "good enough"?

Ashley, I think that is lovely and something like that would look lovely on the products.  I have to admit that I don't know much at all about Permaculture, but I think anything that can tie into the subject is worth a try on the online store(s)...Different people like different things, so the more types of art/quotes/etc... the better! Thanks and God bless!

I "right clicked" and saved one and the size is only 724 x 1023 pixels at only 72 dpi (screen resolution, not great for printing them). I can try one and see in a "hidden" category on my store...they may be okay. I'll let you know. There is no hurry to find the originals as we can start with other images first and add these if/when you find them. Thanks!

Mr. Wheaton....I tried one of the images and was able to create about 200/300 products with it... I have them in a hidden section here, not sure if you can see them with this link...if not I will temporarily "unhide" them for you to see. Please let me know. Thanks!

Wow....these are wonderful!  I CAN get the full size if I just click on the images and save them, instead of "right clicking" on them as that only saves the thumbnail. So, no need to email them! Thanks again! Thanks! Can't wait for us to add these to products! God bless.

Ashley, is the one you posted an image we can add to the webstore, or just an example of what kind of images you create? Also, everybody, don't forget to email your permission to the email in Mr. Wheaton's top post. Thanks!

Staff note (Paul Sofranko) :

Ashley, can we use this for a store? If so, can you send that permission slip thing (to be used also, for any other images you think we can use.) Thanks!

Maybe I can send in a drawing. But then first I'll have to find a place where I can scan it in a way that's useful ... I don't own a scanner myself, nor do I know anyone who has one.

When you "zoom in" on the images you can read them....obviously on some of the smaller products it will be impossible to read the words on images with a lot of words...for example on the keychains, etc....those we can delete from the store.  The ones where there is a picture (like the one of you) people may still be able to read the "permies.com" under your feet.

This is not specific to Cafepress but just to any online store where the image has a lot of words.  I could read the quote on the T-shirts when I zoomed in twice, and I put the words in the description too. The black T-shirts will have to be deleted from that one tho.

Right now the store/products still need work and fixing....so, we'll get it right for you!  Thank you for your input. Feel free to share any of your thoughts, and also if you want specific types of products deleted for specific images please let me know.

Thanks and God bless!

I can make photos that look good on screen. But I know that is not the quality that's needed for a print.

Mr. Wheaton, we have started one more website for you with Fine Art America...the URL was supposed to be Permies, we will have that changed ASAP, but the woman who takes care of that is very sick at the moment.  But you can check out the products here:  https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/paul-wheaton

*** Also, who created the images on the playing cards for you.  We can add them to this FAA website very easily and we like to add the artists names in the keywords too.  Thanks and God bless!
