Hello Permies!

I was blessed last night when visiting a friend that I was sent home with a grocery bag full of a myriad of seeds (organic too!)

They had tons of seeds lying around because they were needed for the local school, but for some reason they just got way too many (literally boxes full)

I was left with the impression that they need somewhere to send these seeds but have no idea where, so I come to you for some ideas.

Where can we send these seeds so they'll be thoroughly enjoyed?

It was a lot and I only have so many friends who want vegetable seeds.

See if there are any local "seed libraries"

What about other schools, garden clubs, and community gardens?

You might contact this person to see if they need still need seeds:

Or you might even want to do something like this:

Our seed library would be happy to have them, if you don’t find a local taker!  PM me.

I would be happy to rehome them for you! I'm just getting started, so I don't have a very large seed selection.

Some food pantries have gardens and might appreciate donations of seeds.

Matt Powers is a permaculture teacher in Central Texas, with a passion for seeds and helping others grow them. He's a busy guy but I bet he could find them great homes, or refer you to another local who could. Here is his contact page (Feel free to reference me as one of his Advanced Permaculture students who sent you):

https://www.thepermaculturestudent.com/contact

He also is a great teacher, and I highly endorse his courses.

Our community's seed library would also be happy to take some, especially since you are in Texas (fairly comparable region, you may be more mild...?).

Thanks!

I'd look and see if there was another local school in the area or a community garden that would benefit from the seeds.  My daughter's school and a few other elementary schools in the county now have their own greenhouses and gardens.
