kickstarter and connecting with other networks

We are about to start a kickstarter for the DVDs from the big rocket mass heater workshop. We want to not only reach our goal, but it would be awesome if we went way over our goal.

To that end, it seems like a good step would be to start networking with other web sites.

So there will be four DVDs: "fire science", "sneaky heat", "boom squish" and "hot rocket".

For sites the size/influence of permies, I think it would be good to offer all four DVDs plus producer credit in the DVDs - provided that they give a mega push. For smaller sites, we can offer one or more DVDs.

So now the real question is: which sites do we contact?

It seems that if we can make arrangements with some of the bigger sites before the kickstarter starts, we can link to them on the kickstarter page and get them gobs of exposure.

Permaculture started in Australia / NZ and we stirred up some interest there with our recent trip inquiries that's going unfulfilled. We'll forward to our private contacts, but I think Australian and UK permaculture websites could be a huge market for something portable like this if you can do a shipment there. Easily the best site I've seen on high temperature combustion is www.stove.ru The site has excellent drawings, clear and complete tech explanations, and pictures of what the gadgets look like when you really build them. It seems to be the work of Igor Kuznetsov, who is somehow associated with the North American Masonry Stove Association. Incredible amount of quality information about how to burn wood like a civilized person.

Remember that Mother Earth needs to be coddled, they haven't thought of you as speaking with the Mother's voice in times past, if I remember correctly, Paul. I am a fan of the seventies-era Mother Earth News, but I don't like the posturing and blatant sexism I see a lot of now.

I think primitive ways is a very cool site. They tell you how to make bows from saplings and lots of other crafty things.

Matthew, from the bottom of my buried ancestral memories I thank you. Primitive Ways is now my favourite website that isn't permies. I mean, instructions for three distinct varieties of effective bow you could totally make in a homesteading or survival situation, and articles explaining the benefits of sinew, the physics behind the organic spring we call the bow, how arrows work and are made, and dozens of things intimately applicable to homesteading and survival. What's more permaculture than finding a replacement for firearms effective for most non-combat uses (unless you're scary good) that you can source and construct strictly from materials found in the wild or recycled from the waste of civilisation?

Sorry, I do go on some times. But Primitive Ways = good.

I have heard David Blume (I like Paul's information better) on there couple times and some others mention permaculture here and there. With all the other support Paul is getting (permaculture magazine, et al) it would give the idea some credence.

Bill McKibben is the main Dude in charge. He wrote what is considered to be the first non-academic book on Climate Change over 20 years ago. Yesterday, they were in Washington to do a march on the White House, protesting Big Oil, but more specifically, the Keystone Pipeline. 40,000 people showed up, from across the US and Canada. Speaking of numbers, 350.org has 250,000 "likes' on FaceBook, and 125,000 followers on Twitter.

350.org isn't interested in just doing marches, rather, they be interested in building a Sustainable Movement focusing on Sustainable Energy and Renewable Resources. I'm thinking a device that generates sufficient heat from 1/10th the wood normally used, while generating 1/100th the pollution of normal wood heater, would probably interest an organization interested in reducing the ecological footprint currently imprinted heavily by Big Coal and Big Oil, and branching more and more into Natural Gas.
