Been waking up early for class, so of course I couldn't sleep in today. Got up, made a little fire, boiled water, and mixed up some anise Masala Chai powder into my coffee. Put the rest of the hot water in a thermos in case either of the guys wanted some when they got up.

Walked down to the amphitheater and sat down on the bench to listen to the morning chorus. The sun rose behind the outdoor kitchen, peeking through the trees and casting dappled light all around me. I heard a loud buzzing and couldn't find the source until it came up the hill toward me and did a fly by - a large wasp of some kind. Crickets chirped merrily to each other. A moth drank heartily from the snow berry plants in front of me.

Coffee consumed, alarm went off. Time to start my day. Off to Missoula to exchange folks coming to and from the airport.

After dropping Chris off at the airport last night, I came back and went down to the river with Kyle. It's been getting way too hot here and the river has been my salvation. All the stress I hold in my body gets to float downstream for a little while. It's a pleasant reprieve. After that, Kyle came over to the cabin and the three of us cooked tasty breakfast foods for dinner. Delightful.

Today begins the PTJ. Bunch of new folks wandering around all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed. I hope they have a good time.

All three cats here are now invalids. Vicious seems like he broke his leg and now just hobbles around. Zz got an infection in his leg so it swelled up really bad. He still limps a bit. Now it seems that Waldo might have gotten hit by a car and is in a lot of pain. This hands off approach to caring about other living creatures around you is foreign to me and feels more like cruelty than anything else.

Filling a hole in the wall where the AC unit was in the Library. It's been slow going. Tools are at all the other loci of activity. I come back from getting a tool and one of mine has walked off. Went to the bathroom in the FPH and noticed it looked rather grimey. Took a break from tool hunting and measuring to scrub the sink, toilet, and shower. I forget that some people stay here, if even for an extended time, and others actually live here - the difference being in seeing that a thing needs to get done and telling someone else about it, or taking the time to do it.

There aren't enough hours in the day or spoons in my pocket.
