I'm not vegan, but this is currently my favorite chocolate.

Did Erica get some of the Theo that I sent?  Most of that was vegan as well.  It's a great chocolate time to be vegan :)

I don't understand why they call it 'vegan'. I thought all chocolate that isn't with 'milk' or 'cream' could be called vegan. I mean 'pure' or 'dark' chocolate. Doesn't it have only plant based ingredients: dry and buttery cacao products, sugar, maybe some vanilla?
I always read ingredients and never saw butter (or other animal fat), eggs or milk in an organic dark chocolate bar.

I think they're making it easily noticeable that it's free from dairy and appropriate for vegans to eat. Standing in stores reading ingredient labels constantly can get tedious. I also don't think everyone knows what typical ingredients in dark chocolate are, so with vegan labeling it makes it easy to know at a glance. 😊

Sorry for becoming 'off topic'...
When I'm in a  supermarket and I see all these labels 'Vegan', my idea is: it's because it's a trend, being vegan, those products sell better with that label. Many products which were plant-based forever, for decades (or centuries), now suddenly have a 'Vegan' label. And probably they raised the price. Many other products, also plant-based, don't have the label, but could be called vegan as well! I don't like this way of marketing ... (like 'green-washing')

I don't mind you going off-topic.😁

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it, and it's a frustrating way to market but I'm not sure how to change the way it's done. 🤔

There are lots of ingredients, sugar being one, that can use animal products in their processing. Animal bone char is sometimes used in the bleaching process when making cane sugar. So it's not just annoying marketing 🙂 Not always, anyway!

My favorite is a chocolate cupcake with white frosting and tiny ad sprinkles.
