Would you rather tons of mishapen veggies or a few perfect specimens?

If you like the "Would You Rather" game, check out this index of other questions. https://permies.com/t/238000/Permaculture-Edition

Would you rather only be able to grow tons of your favorite vegetable, but they are misshapen or would you rather only be able to grow a few of your favorite vegetable, but they are the perfect specimen?

I agree misshaped veggies any day. and tons of veggies over one perfect one.

When I used to shop the farmers market, I always looked for misshaped or blemished ones. That was my way of finding homegrown over commercial grown.

Although I lean towards the "tons of misshapen" ones - and certainly am willing to work around them, I will admit that if I need to process a large quantity of fruit and veg, I lean towards the "regular" shapes, and feed the rest to the chickens, ducks and geese!

Our apple tree is loaded - I will never be able to store them all for us Humans. For sharing with the Geese and Ducks, bruised or buggy will make them just as happy, and reduce my work load.

This! Maybe it's just my imagination but I think they're more flavorful as well.

My friend has some seeds for these incredibly curvy, gnarly edible pod peas. They're super sweet and crunchy. She also grew some purple ones, with a nice orderly shape. The purple ones are easier to spot (just like purple beans are), but they're tougher and taste like grass. So, yes, sometimes/many times,  looks can be deceiving.

Any veggies, misshapen or perfect from the garden - weather and animals making production difficult.  But totally agree with the taste over perfection - experience with the "perfect" supermarket models reinforces that premise.  (Oh, an anagram of Permies!)
