Hi everyone! Just got off the phone with paul and we are officially in the process of getting the first wave of your rewards delivered!!

The plan is to have the first wave delivered by Friday. The first wave will include all electronic rewards that are available at the moment. The rocket mass heater microdoc is not ready yet.

For those of you who contributed $5 or more, please make sure your permies email address matches your kickstarter email address so that we can add you to the secret inner circle forum on permies.

Feel free to ask any questions you have here in this thread.

Keep in mind that at this point in time we only have email addresses for people. Kickstarter allows us to do one "survey" for each reward level and suggests that we do it just before mailing stuff in case people move. So we won't be doing the survey for a while yet.

Also note that the email that is sent to you will come from a richsoil.com email address - so some of you with whitelist features in your email might want to whitelist it.

Just a reminder of what was pointed out on the kickstarter page:

Note that in order to pull this off for a dollar for each person, some things will be available for just a short window of time. We will email you and you will have just a few days to download the product.

Once we begin, people will have 72 hours to download their stuff.

Have I screwed anything up?

Guys, It is a long week-end and some of us well be away or working hard on country house projects. The 72 hour window during a long week-end is not your best idea. How can you expect all your crowd to be home on internet during holidays? We expect better from you!

Good Friday is this week. Myself and I'm sure lots of others will be nowhere near a computer for the duration of the proposed 72 hour period...

I'll check with everybody about the idea of extending things one day. So that would make everything available through tuesday morning.

Paul, I dont want to put too much pressure, and I don't know how it is in the States, but for us in canada, Friday and Monday are holidays. It's a 4 day period where people are visiting family or travelling or working outside. This extension to Tuesday seems a bit short.

I noticed the $40 level was not listed (all four videos as digital download) For a later date perhaps?

I donated $150 so I could get everything that is offered on disk. I'm mostly off grid and on satellite internet, and cant afford the bandwidth to download tons of movies and pdfs and such. I'm so nervous that I'll somehow miss the "window" (however that works for electronic files, that sounds kinda lazy and it sucks that I'll miss out on that stuff, no offense but there was nothing mentioned on kickstarter about limited availability for donors, disks I can understand) this stuff is really important to me. I've been checking email daily so I can get you guys my P.O. Box number. I know Paul said about 2 weeks, but he didn't seem 100% certain, lol. I'll give you whatever info you need to get stuff here. I'm excited about the credits too, will be nice to see my organization up there!

I love what this is all about, and the above are my concerns.

Thanks,

Ok, here's my viewpoint. People are giving you MONEY and you are only giving us 72 hrs to collect our rewards? That does not seem very sporting. If we support your Kickstarter and your livelihood, it's civil, kind, and good business practice to be a bit more customer friendly. I would think a minimum of a week would be reasonable. If it were my business, I'd give people a month. I understand when you "Dailyish" email has special offers or freebies that are time sensitive - get it now or never - but Kickstarter rewards should not be bound by such constraints if you expect an ongoing supportive community.

At the same time, a lot of people have been pestering me to have this stuff RIGHT NOW and I think these people might die if I postpone it.

So we have a dilemma: some people want it NOW and some people want it later. But our agreements with some folks is for a 72 hour window. So this is a good time for people to make suggestions.

I have the same email address for permies and kickstarter, but cannot seem to find any "inner circle" related stuff so far.

Thanks,

Some of the things will be available for a longer time. But some of the things are set up in such a way that we were able to offer it for such a low reward level provided that we made it available for just a short window of time. Which is why I stated that in the kickstarter description. And why I mentioned it twice before the 72 hour period started.

I think we did a great job of offering a LOT of candy with this kickstarter. Other kickstarters say that if you give them five bucks, you get "warm wishes" or "our deepest thanks" which works out to nothing tangible.

With us, we offer two micro documentaries, three podcast gobs, publicly posted thanks (complete with an opportunity to be clever), two rmh plans, permaculture playing cards ebook (never before offered), "3 stoves for $3 or less" pdf, the entire formidable vegetable album, and the full streaming version of "fire science".

That's a lot of stuff. A lot of wheeling and dealing went on to make it available. Frankly, I feel like it is pretty cool to be able to offer so much stuff for five bucks. I feel powerfully compelled to be respectful to the deals that I made with folks to work this out.

With past kickstarter stuff I think we have been really great at helping folks connect with their candy.

If five or six people are not going to be available this weekend, then maybe we should figure out an alternative plan for them.

Jocelyn will be processing the secret inner circle stuff .... I would guess next week. Once you have been added to the SIC, you will see it at the very bottom of all the forums at permies.

With 2022 kickstarter supporters, that could take a lot of work.

These things are priced so low because we are going to process them en masse.

If there are five or six people that have special circumstances, I could see processing those people a few days later.

I'm sure others have concerns that they hope are addressed but thought it worth adding that for those such as myself, I am satisfied.

I backed at a mid-ish level and while I am eager to receive the videos once they are completed, all of the add-ons you kept putting together are just what you say - candy.

If that candy goes bad, so be it - but I'm sure 3 days is enough time for me to find time to sit down and click on a few links and let my PC do some downloading.

Thanks Paul & team.

Ehm .. next week? That is after this Friday when the 72 hour period starts during which I have to access this inner circle stuff to download my candy.

*confused*

P.s. I registered March 18 for this, so I was hoping it would all be setup before candydownloadspree starts.

You will get an email about the rest of your candy.

We did the SIC stuff for the kickstarter a year ago. A lot of people did not follow the directions so jocelyn ended up putting a lot of work in to get those people connected to the SIC forum. I'm going to suggest that Jocelyn do it sometime next week. But if Jocelyn is feeling generous, I suppose she might do it earlier and again later.

Just to clarify. I'm not in a rush to get the stuff, but I do want to get the stuff. I know it takes time, and things aren't finished, but I know for 100% certain that I cant get the stuff if you don't have the information needed to get it to me when its ready! I figured that y'all would be compiling a mailing address list or something.

I also understand that this is for the digital downloads, that I guess I'll miss out on unless I drive 2 hours to town and download them somewhere with more bandwidth in the next 72 hours after release. Which is pretty annoying to find out only after donating, but it happens. My money doesn't expire in 72hrs, neither do my computer files, or my recorded list of donors...just sayin. Y'all don't have to do anything, but flexibility would clearly be appreciated.

Could you email the digital stuff to people, so its downloadable when they have time, ability, and access? You've got the email addresses and the donor lists. That would get rid of the need for a 72hr window, unless people are going to have to go to various sites and sign up with them to get the downloads over that 72hrs...hope that's not the case.

I'm chillin on the side of a volcano in hawaii...I don't need anything *right now*, except maybe some water.

Colin,

The micro docs, the 8 dvd set, the 4 dvd set, anything streaming, access to the secret inner circle forum and the fire science streaming video: you can take your sweet time. You will get an email and you can enjoy those whenever you feel like it.

The digital download version of the new dvds, the old dvds and WDG dvds - you will get an email that gives you 30 days to get those. The old dvds and the WDG dvds, you will be receiving that email sometime on friday. For the new DVDs, we are currently planning on october.

Podcast gobs and playing cards ebook: I could try to do a second offering at another time.

The plasters DVD and wild edibles DVD: that will entirely be up to bart and sergei.

plans, pdf and album: these are going to be strictly managed. I think if five or six people need to be made an exception, we can handle that seperately. If you feel that you are one of these five or six people, please send an email to cassie at richsoil.com and let her know. She will exclude you from this friday's offering and set you up with something else next week.

Just registered just to post in this thread...

I'm one of those pesky people from abroad who have bank holidays during Easter and going away without possibility to download stuff.

Can I be included in the group that will have the email sent later? I guess I'll email Cassie and hope for the best.

Also can you clarify that the streaming videos are not included in this limited offer? I can't imagine people having to sit and watch all those hours of videos in 3 days and not having access anymore.

It would be nice that people who contributed "serious dough" ($100+) could have the access extended to few weeks. But I guess its all decided now.

Also a thought from someone with some IT/web background. I hope all your video hosting sites and 3rd party sites are ready for a massive hit of hundreds of people in one time downloading all this data...

Good luck to us all !!!

Paul, every company I've worked for ( the past 29 years) has given me the Friday before Easter off as a paid holiday, some have even given us the Monday after off to.
Our public schools in Michigan have the Friday off and most have the full week after off for spring break so for families that go on a spring vacation and don't want it to interfere with school, this is that time. If I didn't go spend last weekend with my in-laws (to recognize Easter) then I would be doing so this weekend. This is a huge travel weekend for people in Michigan. Personally I won't, but seems most years I would be gone the full Easter weekend plus a day each side of it.

That simple.

I thought you guys were pretty clear on what you were doing and why on the kickstarter page, and are being so gracious about helping the people who didn't understand now. Good job guys, keep the good stuff going!
And I thought Easter was mostly about the candy anyway.....

What rudeness and selfishness some of you are showing! Whatever happened to civility? Paul and Cassie clearly and specifically mentioned that we will have a short window to download. We knew that when we decided to support this. They are not at all obligated to extend the time. Besides, you can decide what's most important to you; what you want to do with your weekend. I hope every one will be satisfied now.

You didn't ask if I was naked, you asked if I was decent. This is a decent, naked, tiny ad:
