I did email Cassie yesterday and have not gotten a reply. Although it may be too late at this point, I would appreciate any feedback. It would've been nice to have gotten the greenhouse stove plans as well as the other small stove plans, the YouTube videos, etc. I guess at this point the most important is the information for the inner circle when the distribution is announced next fall. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I actually did respond to you. You never replied back to me. Check your spam and junk folders. Sometimes my emails end up in those folders.

You have to have an account on permies that uses and email address that matches your kickstarter email address.

Jocelyn then feeds all of the kickstarter email addresses into the forum software and a special algorithm finds the matching accounts and "blesses" them so that when logged in those people can see a forum called "secret inner circle".

Your account did not get added. I could spend fifteen minutes figuring it out, but instead I'm going to say that we will probably run the algorithm again in a month or two, so if your stuff is all set by then, it should all work out.

Wait! I now see why you didn't get added. You created your permies.com forum account this morning and jocelyn ran the algorithm yesterday.

paul wheaton wrote:Alex,

I'm open to trying again, but I think you should get a download manager - especially if your internet connection is a bit iffy.

Over in the support thread for the massive digital download files, Ian was suggesting browser plugins to do the download management stuff. Of course, they depend on your browser and OS and stuff.

So I don't necessarily want to bicker about the little stuff, I am happy with what I have gotten so far and am excited for the new dvds. But if this is a conversation then I would reply as follows.

1) I do use a download manager, although I generally work with torrents (see point three). This was unable to help me because the file that I had trouble with was a viewable pdf, which wants to load all the way across the browser before I can actually 'download' it. Perhaps I will check out Ians recommendations....
2) Wait a sec, I don't see any actual recommendations for browser plugins in the whole thread, I do see a shadowy reference to '"resumable download" agent', and maybe with that and google I could find something that might work for the future.
3) I was interested reading through the thread about scrubbly and whatnot, and thought, have you ever considered torrents? Its an alternate method for sharing large amounts of data, it can be as private as you want it to be, and files can be downloaded bite by bite, if need be.

Anyways, I am in no way bent out of shape about this, I got the stuff I really wanted. If someone is willing to help me actually download it (putting it in a .zip file would be one way, there are probably many more that I don't know yet) I would download it, but as it stands I don't think I can get the file the normal way.

Cassie, I just found your email and replied. Paul, no I did not request to be in the second group. I started reading this thread early on, and saw there were problems, and so waited thinking things would be resolved and my voice was not needed. Coming back to the thread yesterday, I saw others in in my situation and thought the best course was to email Cassie.

Any help at this point would be much appreciated. Let me know, at least what I need to do for the inner circle for distribution this fall.

Thanks for your help and patience,
Nancy

What exactly is your "situation"? I still haven't figured that out. Did you just not get any email titled "Rocket Mass Heater Kickstarter Candy"? Because I have you on my list of people, so you should have gotten an email.

Alex, I have never used torrents. Although I got to spend a week bickering with my isp last year and talking to every last person at wheaton labs about how somebody apparently did an illigal torrent download of the movie "Hugo". I also know that torrents are used for a lot of illegal stuff, like downloading the movie "hugo," which I find disrespectful to the creators of that stuff. I do know that criminals use phones and email too, but those are things that serve a purpose for me. So I understand that torrents are a tool that could be used for a good thing and that I just have not yet found a need for them. At the same time, since I seem to be getting on okay with my stuff and 100% of my experience and understanding of torrents has been negative, I have not taken the time to explore them further and ... well ... I doubt I will take the time anytime soon.

If you think you can get it 100% given one more try, I think we can try to arrange that with cassie.

Cassie, no I didn't get that email. As I said, I got #7 and #8, but nothing in between. I was on the forum reading the thread, saw the glitches, and thought it was best just to let you guys work through the issues. By yesterday with the window closing, and with the thread getting overwhelmed, I decided to just mail you.

Hi,
My Permies e-mail address is different from the one I used for kickstarter, so I did not get blessed for the 'inner circle' forums. If I change my current e-mail to match the kickstarter one, will it work?
I did get all the nice candy, and really enjoyed watching the Fire Science video, awesome stuff!!!

If there are any other GNU/Liunx users that use this forum it would be nice to have zsync files for any future downloads. The servers got really bogged down and I had to re download a few things ( I ended up using wget since it is more reliable than the web browser downloader). Anyhow thanks for the awesome videos, and the pdfs! I have really been enjoying this candy, though I have not had time to listen to the TONS of mp3s.

Jocelyn Campbell wrote:There were about 1900 folks at the $5 and up rewards levels to add to the secret inner circle. I'm adding those users now.

It was actually 1887 e-mails (that's what we use to add folks here) from 16 backer reports, added in multiple batches.

I just received a purple mooseage from someone who didn't get in to the secret inner circle.

Note that your Kickstarter e-mail must match your permies account e-mail.

Around half of the $5 and up supporter e-mails (968 ) were not found in permies.com. I think the most efficient thing will be to update your e-mail in one or the other profile so that they match. We'll be downloading updated backer reports at a later date and/or will revisit adding folks en masse at another time.

"Did you just not get any email titled "Rocket Mass Heater Kickstarter Candy"? "

Cassie,

I just went back through my "junk" and "deleted" email folders, as well as my inbox and there is nothing there called "Rocket Mass Heater Kickstarter Candy". I have a Hotmail address, and other than that, I don't know.

Again, any help appreciated.

Nancy

Hello Cassie,

I bought a farm in Michigan and have been there/here for a week. Logged into internet and found I had missed the Candy deadline. Is there a way to still get it? I will get back to the internet tonight. Thank you for your consideration.

Robin

attached is a picture of the farm and one of the residents. There is a story in there.

I don't want to be a hater but I was waiting all week last week and over the weekend looking for the email from Paul or Kickstarter with the links to all of the Candy. Nowhere did it say that Cassie was going to be sending out an email from her email address. Why wasn't it sent out via the Kickstarter message system? Is there anyway I can get the PDFs, they're really the only reason I signed up for this. I feel like the more open this whole rocket mass heater system is people will start adopting it more. Anyway, I really do like all that you guys do, but communications surrounding the Candy email were a bit lacking.

Thanks for all your help and documentation!

I sent it from my email address because I am the one that is processing all of the kickstarter stuff. If we would have sent it from Paul's email address, all the replies would have went to him, and that is not what we wanted. He already has 20 million other things he is doing. This is my area I am helping with. That's why.

email me at cassie at richsoil dot com if you want to be included in the second download window that will begin later today. tell me your kickstarter email address in that email too please.

I am with relatives because I became extremely ill recently and just now got an email from kickstarter with a link here and I am honestly really sick. I am having trouble reading and focusing on things because I have been unable to eat much food in over a month and now I am worried I won't get my downloads because I have missed something important. I don't think I will be able to read everything and figure it out until I am well and from what I can read here it looks like by then it will be too late

I hope I am wrong.

If someone could list for me the episodes that were included there I can make sure to just grab those ones on itunes. Thanks for the help.

I think I could forward the email to my husband and he probably could do that. or if I can just email you once I am healthy or something. I only did the 5 dollar thing so it isn't much and it is not a big deal if I don't get it really. I am just really confused and feel like I missed everything happening here because I have been unable to keep up with anything.

Yeah I will add you to the list of email addresses that I will send the email to today, and then you could forward it to your husband. I think that would be the easiest. Is your permies email address the same as your kickstarter one?

Actually I didn't get any of the .zip files. I clicked on all the links over the weekend and assumed they downloaded just fine. But when I checked just now all of them have a download error saying it timed out.
Is there any way to get these again?
I received the .pdf files and youtube links just fine. But the .zip files no.

The 72 hour window has ended. However, due to the amount of people unable to download because of the Holiday weekend, we are sending out another set of emails later today.

Please tell me the amount of money you contributed to the kickstarter, and provide me with the email address you use for kickstarter. I will then add you to the list of people that will receive an email on sometime today with all the candy. You will have 72 hours from when I send the email to download all of the stuff.

Hi Cassie,

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

I contributed with $60.00.

How can I make sure I download today?

Just to be clear, before the friday mailing, you emailed cassie and asked to be on the tuesday mailing instead, right? If that is the case, then I'm guessing that you will get an email sometime today.

no I don´t think I did - I think I wrote about it on Sunday evening when I tried to download - I couldn´t get anything sorted out - and I´m still trying to get used to using this forum - I´m sorry but technology takes a long time to sink in!
Like I didn´t know that hitting the quote button means I can answer your messages!!

I just sent all of the emails for the second wave. The window will be open for 72 hours.

Email me if you didn't receive the email and would like to. But please please check your junk mail and spam and search my name first before you email me.
