I'm puzzled and maybe I did something wrong but I tried to post a reply on a thread and was asked to log in so I did and then it sent me a confirmation message and a "welcome to Permies" like if I was brand new. So I don't know what I did but something's not right?  Also the page I was posting to did not have the "attachment" button at the bottom and I couldn't figure out how to upload a picture (or 3) to my message. It was an old thread so maybe it was never 'updated'?

I am not sure I can help with your problem posting a reply because I generally use the "Quick reply" button at the bottom of the thread.

"Quick reply" does not have a way to add pictures or attachments.

This thread explains about adding pictures when replying using the "IMG" button found at the top of the reply screen:

scroll down until you see a picture that has "IMG" outlined in red.

Hi Anne, There was no Quick Reply button only said Reply. It looked like a very old format as all the comments were 9-10 years old! So I figured things got updated but this page was left out because nothing current going on it. I saw the IMG but it too didn't seem to allow upload from private files, only from another website. It asked for a URL which I couldn't use. Also the options with check boxes right below this text box were different. There was only 2 or 3 options where here below there are 5. The forum page was about hanging clothes outside to dry in winter. Thanks.

Denise, thank you for the reply.

I am sorry I offered all I knew to offer.  Maybe someone more knowledgeable will reply.

I feel what is needed is a link to the thread you were trying to post to or even a screenshot of the page you are talking about.

I found a thread from 2009 and looked at the reply options and they were the normal ones.  Maybe what happened was a one-time thing or had something to do with how the page loaded.

Sorry I can be of no further assistance.

It sounds like you were some how logged out when you found the thread. When someone is logged out, they get a slightly different experience on permies, to make it a little more intuitive to post. And, after they've written their post, they're asked to sign up so their post goes through. It looks like this is what happened to you.

Hopefully, if you go back to that thread while logged in, you'll be able to post again with pictures. The fact that you went through the sign-up process doesn't impact your account at all. But, I think we need to reprogram things so that if someone already has an account and makes a post while logged out, they don't get a confusing "Welcome to Permies" message.

I'll see if we can get this improved!

Not sure what happened here. I tried to sign IN and it said I had to click on a link you sent. When I did that it said thank you for signing up. Now I can't find my stuff. Did I lose everything? Thanks

Wondering if you want those of us testing for bugs to comment here =)

I had ONE issue because I mistyped my burner e-mail address (whoops.)  But the "change my email" took care of that. . .

How do I locate My Stuff?  I know I've done it before but now I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi… SMOOTH to sign up! Thanks for asking.

Been a few years since I took Mr Bill’s course in 98/99? in Ojai CA but still apply it in my plain and simple frugal living.
Looked at 2 cabins near Missoula on 20 acs to apply Perm but did not get it. Brother lived up in Whitefish for years. I’m now in No. CA.
Best Regards

I got an email that says "Today, I have been activated because Beau Davidson wants to give you access to the top-secret private forum "RMHJ movie kickstarter support" on permies.com. But the email address I was given was not found in my database."  The reason is I haven't registered for this forums before.  The email then says "If this is the case, please follow the link below and you will get an opportunity to register".  The link takes me to the top-secret forum and then says "Oooops.. You don't have sufficient privileges to access this forum".  There is no opportunity to register!

It looks like you might have already had account, because when I look at your profile, it shows that you've had an account here since Dec 20, 2021.

It's really good to know that the link in the email did not take you to the right place. Would you, perchance, be able to paste all of the email here in this thread, so I can see the link?

What might have happened is that you supported the kickstarter with a different email than your permie account email. This sometimes happens, and it usually results in an account being automatically generated here on permies that has all your kickstarter rewards. If you could, could you look at your permies profile and see if the email address is the same one as the email address you supported the kickstarter with? If they're different, send me a PM with your other email address, and I'll merge the account together for you!

Thank you so much for reporting your experience here!

If the program you are talking about is the Permaculture Bootcamp, then you've come to the right site (though wrong forum  ) The Bootcamp is like an educational and training center where people learn organic gardening and natural building techniques (amongst other things.)

You can learn about us by our site: Wheaton Labs or right here: Everything you want to know about Wheaton Labs..

We are take on people for the Bootcamp program almost year-round. Is this something you'd be interested in? If so, then more information can be found here: Wheaton Labs Bootcamp and at: Bootcamp on Permies.com

If you just want to visit and see what the whole place is about, we have a way for folks to do that as well:

SEPPer.

Thank you so much for being on Permies. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Are you still having problems, Caleb?  Can you describe what you're seeing on your screen in your attempts?  Screenshots may help, too.

Thank you for going to the effort to troubleshoot.

First post under this account. I used a website generated 'strong password' when I created my account. However, I was unable to copy my password, so I could use permies on multiple platforms. My desktop is a new Mac Mini running Monterey and Safari (firefox doesn't play nicely with Monterey, to my dismay. I don't know when that will be fixed.). My laptop is running Debian Linux on a secondhand HP laptop, running Firefox. Yes, I could export my passwords from Safari, and import them into Firefox, but that is a pain. I do understand why password security is important, but is there a reason why I can not see my password in a human readable format?

Hi Michael!

I see the homesteading bundle and the first 5 items in your ledger.  Can you navigate to "my stuff" under your profile name?

Here is a shortcut: https://permies.com/forums/premium/list/#mystuff

There is a tab/button on the left (desktop) that says "DM threads - gifts I manage".  You should find your gift codes there.

If you need more detailed help, there is a fabulous set of instructions here: https://permies.com/wiki/145304/access-Digital-Market-Goodies-Gift#GiftCode

Hope this helps!
