Yes! I think so, for sure. I would be interested in that as a standalone product, but also think the door and hinge would be a great combo (perhaps the 2 of them could be something separate and the mycelium on its own).

The video has been updated, more images added ...  all sorts of changes.  Howzit lookin?

click here for the preview of the kickstarter.  (the other page is gonna be the final url and it just says "coming soon")

I think we're ready!

The most important part is the rewards.  Once somebody picks a reward, kickstarter won't let you edit it.

You're hearing it hear first - Toby Hemenway's excellent Permaculture Voices presentations, "Backing Away from the Energy Cliff" just added as an earlybird reward!  Check it out: https://permies.com/t/211621/Toby-Hemenway-Backing-Energy-Cliff

Do you like the earlybirds so far?  What else would you like to see on the earlybird list?

Over on the official Kickstarter page, a couple of comments made us wonder if a few extra lines in the story might be appreciated. Can you let us know your thoughts?

Kari Durfee said:
If it is a movie that just inspires us to go out and learn how to do those things then I would pass. There is already so much out there that inspires. What we need is the down and dirty, nitty gritty details of how to do each thing that is mentioned in the advert. I want the details shown and a link to a pdf.

Steven Every said:
It's not clear what this is. I get the topics but is it a documentary type of movie or detailed instructions.

Here is a paragraph from the end of the story as it stands right now:

So we put our heads together to devise a way to share what we are doing and learning with the world.  One of the instructors said "Hey, why don't we make a movie!"  So he set up his camera and captured the best of every project, including extensive interviews with the instructors.

Do you think we should add to the end of this paragraph, something like:

For the DIY enthusiast, the informative content of the movie is supplemented by the excellent rewards including detailed plans of many of the projects to get your teeth into. Higher level backers can also benefit from interactive webinars with some of the instructors.

Our last kickstarter did very well, and I think that is in large part because that kickstarter had more than 1300 followers before the kickstarter launched.  I guess I feel like I would like to get better and better at doing this kickstarter thing - so having 1400 followers would say that I am getting better at this.

And if we can get the kickstarter to be really good, then a lot of people that have never heard about permaculture will hear it through this.

I found it here.  Two hours before launch we had 1359 followers.  I think we are about halfway to that now - with three days left until we start.

We want you to experience what your support can help us create!

First, please follow

this link

and click

For a limited time, we're offering a gift (or more accurately, as Paul says, a bribe :) ) - an early version of the 3D plans for the Roundwood Picnic Table featured in the movie. I think it's the most beautiful piece and its functional simplicity represents what permaculture is all about to me.

Here is the temporary download link:
Click Here to download your plans!
Note, this link will self-destruct the moment the kickstarter launches Tuesday at 2.  So hit the notify button, download, and enjoy!

This is version 0.5, and there's still a lot of work to do, including more detailed in-between processes, information on various related subjects relayed by experts, an iterative conceptual Roundwood Picnic table design by Paul Wheaton with smart ideas to make it even better, detailed explanations on how and when to process trees, and much more!

This is an introductory clip showcasing a roundwood picnic table from our upcoming movie. If our Kickstarter campaign gets funded, we plan to include a wealth of additional information, such as animated visualizations of the design, insights into Jim and Paul's vision for future projects, and detailed step-by-step demonstrations of the build process. We're also excited to share our knowledge about roundwood carpentry, and this is just one of many projects we'll feature in the movie. Our goal is to present each build from the jamboree in great detail and share them with the world.

And here is the podcast where Paul and Jim talk about the table.

The best part of all this is that this is just one of the plans on our list. Which one are you most excited about?

rocket hot tub
shaving horse
spinning wheel made from bicycle parts
mycelium insulated door and Proenneke hinges
log beehive
rocket kiln
hugelkultur
spring terrace / humus well

For me, the trailer movie stopped just short of delivering the punch line - it ends with a question (does anyone want this) without saying what the listener should do about it.

As this is the advert for the movie - and it self a movie, if the trailer doesn't showcase the quality the full length movie will achieve, then I think it won't have done enough.

The trailer felt like flip, flip, flip, flip, flip - with no time to digest each taster clip.

Maybe showcase the best 3 by slowing things down a little then tell the watcher the next few clips will go by quick. Those fast clips will introduce the topics quickly introduce the topics.

I'm probably not making total sense - but since I'm in regardless, not sure what else to say.
