mycelium insulating a home with mushrooms
Yes, I know technically mycelium is correct, but I doubt the vast majority of people who might be interested in the movie know what that is *AND* it sounds more sensational.

I see your point, but I'm going to stick with mycelium
a) mushroom = not true, and a horrible idea - bad science, and a poor understanding of fungal biology
b) mycelium is getting more well known and is a grabby topic right now

an all-wood proenneke hinge
Capitalize it if it is a proper noun. I don't even know what the heck a pro-whatever hinge is...is there some other way to say this? If not, shove this at the bottom or leave it of and use the  "and even more!"

Capitalized, thanks.  Probably will stay near the top because it's in-line with Paul's interests.

How about "spring terrace - water from dry land"

We've offered it before and had exactly zero takers.

Maybe the PTJ is so awesome that some people would want that this time?

CLICK THUMBS UP if you'd back the kickstarter at $1500 to get a ticket to this year's event

Could it be because they would need to be there too soon? Many folks are not in a position to just drop everything and travel across states or even the country without having lots of time to make preparation. That may be financially, or scheduling vacation time, family obligations and such.

Just my take on it.

Likely, because if they were already a forum regular they would be buying early bird right now. We can't take time off then, so that's our rationale.

That said, I think it is a nifty option and should be kept. I bet someone somewhere has been saving and waiting for the right opportunity.

We're working on a killer batch of earlybird rewards, but they'll only be available for a short window of time.
Don't miss out!  Get notified when the kickstarter launches.

I don't like the word "modalities", it sets of my pretentious professor alarm bells.  Maybe "techniques" would be better?

Other Kickstarters offer "thanks" which is nothing, or post it to social media to be instantly forgotten.

This comes off the tongue weird.  What about "Other kickstarters idea of "thanks" is pretty low effort.  If you're lucky they post it to social media to be instantly forgotten."

At $65 it says the rewards include all the plans featured in the movie but then it only lists a few of the projects.  Should the rest be listed there as well?

Oh, at $80 it says all the finished builds in the movie.  That seems confusing between it and the $65 level.  Isn't the rocket kiln featured in the movie?  Maybe not...  I guess as long as you guys are sure ALL the projects are listed somewhere in the rewards AND it's clear enough, I guess it's fine.  Also, maybe it would sound better as "and FOUR GIFT CODES for HD Streaming of the movie that you can give to your friends."

$100 level - looks like this sentence was copied over from the $15 level "You can watch it over and over for many years."  Doesn't seem appropriate for the $100 level...  Also, is it just your name or can you do a funny title instead?  Some people may not want their real name in there...

Risks section - "There are a lot of humans involved, and when there are humans, comedy ensues, so we keep pressing forward and hope for the best."  This might sound a bit more positive if stated "There are a lot of humans involved, and when there are humans, comedy ensues.  We have a great team at our disposal and I'm quite confident we'll be able to deliver despite any challenges."

In Paul's "About the creator" two things.  Might want to change it to "aerospace software engineer" to indicate he didn't do his engineering in the air.  Secondly it might be worth mentioning he wrote two books.

Rewards section on the right:
$1  We love all our backers THIS MUCH.  Change the . to a !
$65 Here it's more clear that there are plans for some of the projects but not all (see my confusion above).  Also it says "3D plans for  projects featured in the movie."  There's an extra space between the FOR and the PROJECTS.  Was there originally a number 4 in that spot? IE "3D plans for 4 projects featured in the movie."  If so that would be even better.  Or at least remove the extra space...
$400  Extra word to remove "fancy animations in the movie with the a few other folks"
$1000  Maybe change to "most other levels"   "Includes everything in GLORY, and several other levels,"

How about: "AND you get your name (or another silly title) in the movie credits.  Imblazened forever on the silver screen!"

$1000  Maybe change to "most other levels"   "Includes everything in GLORY, and several other levels,"

how about  "Includes everything in GLORY and the lower levels, AND your name with  "Associate Producer",  in the ending credits of the movie."

Oh, and modalities has been right-sized to techniques.

The only gripe I have is that in the preview video Paul says 14 Kickstarters and in the creator bio box on the right it says 12. I blame Kickstarter for this oversite and doubt there is a convenient way to fix it.

But I do urge you to put back the Permaculture Royalty at this year's PTJ level option. As I said, I suspect that one or more people may be saving up for that. I have several friends who kickstart things and they often save up for these big prizes with personal attention from their favorite creators as once in a lifetime experiences.

Yeah, I think it is missing something at the end...

First off, when it transitions from Beau and Samantha's voices to Paul's it's a bit jarring.  Maybe if the ending changes, you can say it a bit softer?

I think the end is so far from the beginning that the viewer may have forgotten what you're trying to edit.  I think you could say that you have footage and interviews and need money to turn it into a movie...

Currently you have "Now for the big kickstarter question - is there enough interest to pay for the editing?"

I'd maybe change that to "We collected the video and interviews.  Can this kickstarter pay to edit, animate and polish it into a full movie?"    This is far from perfect poetry but maybe you get the idea?

i have suggestions/tweaks for your perusal. if you don't like them, no worries, ignore them. also, i tried to highlight for easier recognition of suggestions/tweaks.

Permaculture can make your life more luxuriant, and easier on both you and the environment.  One of the ways this can be achieved is through the use of low tech, DIY solutions for your house and homestead.

Permaculture can make your life easier, more luxuriant and improve the environment.  All this is done using low tech, DIY solutions for your house and homestead.

At Wheaton Labs we run an annual event called the Permaculture Technology Jamboree, where we bring together some of the world's most innovative designers, builders, tinkerers, bodgers, fixers, goofballs, and water-witchers; to explore and experiment with all kinds of things related to homesteading and permaculture.  The results are consistently amazing!  New and old natural building methods have been unlocked and refined, like mycelium insulation and roundwood and earthen building modalities. New time and energy-saving inventions have been born – solar and passive solar designs to capture, store, and move heat, water, and even electricity. Wood heat technology has grown into maturity, finding new expressions and practical applications such as the Rocket Kiln, Forge, and Crucible, achieving heat-work that was previously regarded as "impossible."

i like techniques instead of modalities too. apparently it's not just me. hope we don't start a revolt, that would be revolting.
"for instance" could be "examples are;"

or

none of the above

I say 14?  I thought I said 13.

Maybe the number on kickstarter will change to 13 once the kickstarter officially starts.

I hear what you're saying now that I'm looking at it.

What about just adding a line to segue:  "We have all the video to make this movie.  Now for the big kickstarter question - is there enough interest to pay for the editing?"

Check out how you can make some coin promoting the Kickstarter through the kickback program: https://permies.com/kickback

We can now hand out ref codes ahead of the project launch, so there more opportunity for you to harvest early bird backer coin, which is exciting! Let us know if you want a ref code to promote the project to your networks.

My comment is a bit off topic but I hope it helps anyway.   I think you've already earned a bunch of coin by setting the conditions for and instigating the rocket kiln breakthrough.  If you can accept compensation for that or pre-in vestment no-strings-attached for your ongoing projects, that seems completely honorable.  I can see people easily monetizing the kilns and making a lot of money or savingh a lot of money, and they should be passing some of that along to you.  I hope my town will build a kiln and compensate the Lab.

As for the kickstarter if I have time and energy I will look at it, you have yet to have one bomb and in fact they've generally gotten way over-funded in less than a day.

The pieces are all there, the main thing now is to make people aware of it and generate hype so that we can make sure the instructors in the film and the creators are rewarded for their efforts. [/quote wrote:

I mentioned my little part of this movie over on reddit, turned around for a sec, and had more than 100 likes.  It feels like the audience for this movie could be huge.  My question is, how do we tell more people about it?

Spotted a couple things...

At the $1 level the bullet points are bold, at higher levels they aren't.

The shaving horse is explained (yay) but the rocket kiln, rocket hot tub and spring terrace aren't.  For folks that aren't intimately familiar with WL stuff, adding an explanation on them might help
