Hi
I apologize for my beginner's questions that follow. I'm new here and I don't know the personalities and how everything works.
Anyways..

1) Is this the official plans for the Rocket Ovens DVD or just fan made?

2) If it is the official plans, will the Sketchup (if sketchup was used) files be available and or included with the purchase of the PDF files?

Thank you very much.

1) yes. I am reviewing the documentary and having creators review my work.
2) no. I am currently opposed to sharing the sketchup file, but sketchup pro is being used.

PLEASE NOTE: I have major EDITS coming soon; I am not on site, and some of my early generalized understandings have evolved to the final work now.

I emailed our developer about an hour ago and asked him to reply to this thread.   In the meantime, other members of the permies.com staff asked if I could say something.

I looked up the error code and it says

If the funding option selected by the buyer fails in a DoExpressCheckoutPayment or a DoAuthorization call, a funding failure recovery process is available to merchants. Error code 10486 is returned to merchants when a buyer's payment fails due to a bad funding method (typically an invalid or maxed out credit card).

I would test this out by buying these plans myself, but paypal won't let me buy from myself.  :)

Anybody wanna try buying this or something from the digital market that is cheaper to see if it works for you?

Pumen,

Here is where that error is documented:
https://www.paypal.com/dm/smarthelp/article/why-did-i-get-api-error-code-10486-ts1515

A buyer’s Express Checkout payment failed due to a bad funding source; for example, the transaction exceeded the buyer's card limit.

As it seems, Paypal couldn't charge your credit/debit card. Does it have enough available funds? Can you please try with another card?

Hi,

I thought I read in a thread that the plans were available for those who purchased the video, for the price of a slice of pie.

I searched, I could not find that thread, but I was curious as I have 2 slices of pie, how do I make an exchange of 1 slice for the plans?

Thanks

Mart

-----------------------------------

I found the thread, and looked closer I found the link for the 1 slice buy under the buy now tab.    I now have the plans,  Thanks!

I found it, and bought it with one slice of pie.   All set.

I bought the plans download today. However, I tried to print it out and got a version with font too tiny to read. Is there a way to print the plans out so I can read them?

Thanks,

Dan Shaw

The plans are on PDF sheets sized at 48inx36in. Use a computer to read the PDF, or print the plans at full size (using a document printer which you will probably need to outsource to a company for 5$ a sheet). I bet there are softwares that allow you to print only portions at full scale, but I don’t have recommendations. I will take this issue into consideration in the future, as I could make future plans fit on thirty letter sized pieces of paper just the same.

I hope this helps. Thanks for your purchase. And thanks for the comment on YouTube.

I got a private email requesting a dimension that may not be clear inside the set of plans. Please keep this image in mind going forward. Please size your exhaust sink accordingly.

Hi Daniel -

An overview can be found in the companion guide. If you need precise plans for building a J-tube, see Davin's J-tube plans download.

Is there a way the plans could be printed on 24 by 36 paper? I am having issues finding a place that can print 48 by 36.

If you print it on a smaller piece of paper, the scale will be effected. The words and dimension lines will shrink too.

I advise you have them print one sheet, then, you examine whether or not you like the outcome.

Maybe you have an iPad (or other portable computer) to view and zoom the PDF to supplement your experience.

If you're still on the fence, because you want your rocket oven indoors, well all you need are some modifications.  Check it out: https://youtu.be/NSgZzKrHCdg

Question. Is the rockwool insulation two inches thick? When I was looking over and measuring on the plans that is what I came up with.

So you can know what to expect when you buy the the Rocket Wood Oven video... this is a short excerpt from it - about  how to assemble a stovepipe and back wall for the oven. It is representative of the kind of detailed and clear instruction found in the video in general. Check out the Rocket Wood Oven movie excerpt.
