What should a picture of it cooking include that isn’t in the series above? As I compare what I submitted with the requirements, the comment, and the submissions that came before mine, I’m unable to parse out what I missed. I can cook rice again if I did something wrong, but I don’t even know what I’d include to pass the BB.
Staff note :

"Cooking" ... an in progress pic ... all I see is a container & then fully cooked. If you don't have a glass lid, a before pic of some uncooked rice in water will work.

I’m not sure how to do this, I was going to edit my submission above to expand it but got a dire warning to avoid edits. So I’ll do it here and if that wasn’t the right choice, please correct me — I’m still getting the hang of how Permies works.

I unexpectedly had some sun today (it’s supposed to be cloudy for the next eight days) so I tried again with a different pot. It’s indoors now as storms are rolling in, and I have to admit it’s a little al dente, but it’s edible.

This is a submission for the BB in solar cooking.

I cooked and baked all summer long using the Sun Oven, with three different types of food successfully cooked: 1) rice 2) meat and 3) pie. All 3 were subsequently written up on my blog:

Rice: The Day Superman Got a Sun Oven

Meat: Cooking Meat, the Solar Way

Pie: Can You Bake a Pie in a Solar Oven?

Setting up the rice in the Sun Oven.

Here's the rice cooking in the Sun Oven.

Rice, mid-cook:

Unfortunately, I forgot to get a photo of the finished rice. But here is proof that I can capably cook a pot of rice, as I've got photos of successful meat and pie bakes, which are arguably more challenging. You can also look at the links above for the full blog posts with step-by-step breakdowns.

Thank you!

Note: That's a nice oven, a nice blog, & the food looks amazing. However, this BB is about showing & cooking 2 cups of grain. We need to see the grain here, in the pot & also after it's finished.

This is to correct my previous incomplete submission (quoted below) for the BB in cooking a grain with a solar oven.

First, here's the pot of rice just put into the Sun Oven in the morning, before the sun hits the oven.

Here's a closer look, with it just beginning to cook as the earth rotates and the sunlight hits the Sun Oven.

Next, you can see the rice cooking in the Sun Oven, with the temperature gauge rising.

Here's the pot of rice fully cooked.

I've written this whole process up at "Another Pot of Rice in the Solar Oven: How to Get a Permaculture Badge (Bit)... Hopefully!"

Thank you for your reconsideration.

Edge case submission
Cooking rice, one cup dry, in a Cookit Panel cooker. This is the arbitrary unit Cookit, I find them easier to cut and make. Constructed with mylar and coraplast. First picture is the measure, second rice cooking and last the cooked rice!

My daughter and made a solar oven out of a box and black fabric and tin sheeting and a coffee table covering (glass). I cooked 2 cups of millet in there, which took awhile, but cost me nothing!

Made rice yesterday, will this picture work for cooking rice to complete the BB?

soaked 1 cup for this project and also in the picture I soaked another cup for another project.
added 1.75 cups of water to the rice
cooked the rice in the solar cooker.
The rice turned out alright. The top layer was starting to brown, because I had not been watching it through out the day. Even though I was not watching the rice the rice turn out great.
