This is a Badge Bit (BB) that is part of the PEP Curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

For this BB you will create a salve out of mullein leaf.

Make the mullein leaf salve, and take a picture of it being made, and of it being finished.

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must post:
  • a picture of your mullein leaf, freshly harvested
  • a picture of the mullein leaf in the oil with a description of what oil and other ingredients you used
  • a picture of your completed salve in its permanent, labeled container/jar

I made mullein leaf salve.  The recipe I used called for a ratio of oil to beeswax of 1.6 oz (45 g) mullein infused oil to 0.25 oz (7 g) beeswax.  The final result smells so good - the sweet smell of honey and beeswax!

I harvested and air dried mullein over the summer. Then I crushed the dried leaves, submerged it in 100g of EVOO, and baked at 180degF for 12 hours. I then strained the oil, heated it in a double broiled, and added 15g of beeswax until homogenous. Then I poured some of it into a mold, cooled it and put it in a labeled container.
